I got the new motorola A835 and i loaded the mobile phone tools software on my PC, but when it uploads the image or skin isnt my phone. A freind said that it needed to be the skin of my A835 and i cant work out how to change it so that i can start transferring stuff between my PC and mobile. Anyone have the same problem? Or can anyone tell me what to do?

If you want a skin you can alway make your own using the Motorola Media Manager 1.5
it is free from here
I made a couple of them already and they work like a charm. You just have to make sure you have the correct size picture in terms of the pixels.

I have been trying to hook up my Motorola V300 to my PC via the USB cable provided with the Mobile Phone Tools CD that I bought later, but have not had any luck.
The phone gets installed okay and seems to be working, but when I go to transfer an image, either from phone to PC or vice versa, I get an error message saying “Communication Link Broken by Phone” and then “Communication Port Unavailable”.
When I then quit the transfer application I get a pic of a phone with a line through it and the message “Device Not Connected” when it clearly is, and when I hover the mouse over the phone pic on the tray icons, it says something about the modem not working.
I got it working ONCE – but since then it has stopped!
I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of: I’ve uninstalled it and tried to install it with the hardware wizard but this doesn’t work. I’ve tried manually installing the modem drivers by trying one at a time, but this doesn’t work. I’ve followed the instructions on the disk to the letter but that doesn’t work. I’ve even reinstalled, done the BVRP update then manually selected the modem drivers again and guess what? You get the picture…
Is there a particular driver I should be installing that I can download, or are there updates that I should be getting but am not? Any help on this is much appreciated.
Does anyone know how to do this and if so PLEASE could you tell me exactly what you did, as this is now making me age prematurely! Beers in it for the person who can fix it for me!
(I am running XP home)
Thanks
Helena

ok, did it!
this is what i've done:
i conected the phone, started mobile phone tools and i restarted...
guess what? the computer? no! the phone. i tuned it off and then on again, allways with the cable connected, and it started working.
better than that, it started working also on the laptop where i had installed it also, without doing nothing more.
so i think you have to do that. the problem i think that if you don't do that the phone doesn't connect to the computer.
good luck,
Helena

I have had the exact same problem and it is getting very frustrating. I have tried rebooting computer, and turning the phone on and off but it seems very very sporadic. It seems there should be a better way of doing it. Have you had any other results? Thanks for the tips anyways!

Have you check the connection between the cable and and the phone port, it should be properly clicked and don't move it at all. Move it a little and your connection will instantly broken, i think motorola should fix this

I have no problems sending pictures to my Motorola v300 phone, but I can't seem to send pictures from my phone to my laptop. I have tried restarting the phone while the USB cable is plugged in, but nothing seems to work.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!! [/quote]
DO NOT used all cap and your post is deleted for this reason.
At your fone skin on the desk top click menu icon-->setup-->general setup F6-->communication-->modem exchange-->choose from list--> on your left select motorola GSM on your right select V300 then click finish that should get it to work correctly

Don't reboot with cable in maybe, usually that doesn't work well. Unplug phone and reboot the laptop. Then turn off the V300 and remove battery for 1 min and re-insert and power on the phone. Once its fully loaded plug in and run MPT. After that try again. This should all work nicely after that. I'll end up making a guide for manual driver install as well, btw people make sure you live update to 3.25b, that fixes a million driver read errors in previous versions.
