there are many reasons why it is essential to flash your samsung phone. for example, my Samsung V206.
by flashing you can enable many features:
* Camera Zoom function
* Font Size & Text Wrapping of SMS
* Changing between Smooth & Block scrolling styles of WAP browser.
* Less Lag on GPRS sessions
* New menu ability: "Save Picture As..." when browing WAP.
* Support for JPEG, PNG, BMP & GIF formats (Depends on which firmware)

I got my V206 overseas and i've been wanting to flash it to a V200 firmware to no avail.
i want to have these extra functions for my phone but my data cable won't allow me to flash or connect to easyGPRS. its the offical data cable from Samsung that came with the phone, it has a block in the middle which allows me to connect to the charger, but it has no "Data or D/L" switch.

i even tried to plug the charger into the data cable block to see if the cable will then work, however, my phone won't even turn on with the charger stuck to the cable!

does anyone know what is happening?! i need help!

Have u ever thought about which cable u bought? And is it switched to D/L It wont work i belive. Use Data and look so u havent bought a E700 data cable, and look @ settings u might have been connecting it to the wrong port, then it wont work dude. If u connected into COMport3 and uve choosen COMport4 u wont be able to connect dude..

no, the V206 doesn't allow me to download jpegs and yes, all the com port settings are correct. but i can't change between Data & D/L coz theres no switch on the data cable! the cable came with my phone by the way.
