Do they put number into the SIM card ? Like are they hardcoding it into SIM ?

Cuz, in the phone in the settings there is an option: Own phone. I was wondering if I could change the phone number from there  But it didn't work 
I swap the cards ( I got 2 rogers SIM cards from parents' phones) and changed phone number using that option to the original one, stil when I was calling to my sell phone , one of my parents' phone was ringing instead ( the one with my original SIM in it)
Did you have similar problem with x427M firmware that after flashing the phone would not recognize its original SIM card BUT recognize any other ? 
P.S.
BTW Do I have to live the SIM card in while flashing , or take that out ?
As instructed in the flashing topic by DON I took SIM card out in flashing process and turned phone off[/b]

The sim holds the phone number, I can take my sim and put it in anyphone and that phone has my phone number was the same with original V1.7 firmware and is the same with x427m rev 1.2 firmware. I believe I took mine out.

Hi all!
I come from Finland and I have Samsung SGH-E800 phone.
And I would like to now HOW I can get a new firmware to my phone.
I have an usb-datacabel and my phone of course.
Phone has been bought from Finland about 6months ago and I don't know what firmware it has.
So, If I put newest firmware in it, what programs I need, how I upgrade my phone with that firmware and if it's newest firmware, what get with it..?
Will it allow longer ringtones? some grafical changes or what?
If I/you need some information, please, tell me how I can get information from my phone. 
Fast answers needed!

I have tried to flash my E720 with unbranded FW, the phone powers on when i turn it on so i cannot flash and get error. I am using a cruiser cable with a samsung e720 ps2 adapter, there is no externel power source to the adapter yet there is some adapters i have seen.
Am I using the right cable?
If I am can someone direct me to the right drivers in case mine are wrong please.
All help will be greatly appreciated

What's the newest firmware for the E715? My phone has E715UVDJ2 on it, and I can't find any reference to that build ID anywhere with Google, or on here...?
