I've got porblems backing up the Firmware of my E700.
Using the Optiflash 3.7:
The E700 isn't listed in the "Select your Phone Model" tab .... so I chose "Test 6A" which seems to get a connection to my phone every once in a while.
After hiting the Backup button the program says to "Hit the on/off Button" well I do.... nothing happens.... I waited for about 10 minutes...no reaction?!
Am I using the wrong program? what should I do different?

E715 scan line problems and so on...
is related to the firmware. I just got off the phone with level 2 support at Samsung and the guy was pretty friendly. He said they would RMA my E715 free of charge. He also told me that the problem is not with the LCD screen, but the software. He said, the latest version is E715UVDJ2 (from April or May of 2005 I believe he said).
I just proved this to be true by loading the E715UMDH1 FW on my phone and powering up, then pressing 1#. The screen wnet to the alternate view of the phonebook and it was perfectly clear and no scan lines!!! Perfect display! When I exited this alternate phonebook screen, the scan lines were back. Prior to flashing the E715UMDH1 FW, I had the E710XXDF4 version.
So, it is not the LCD screen that causes the problem. Apparently, you load the new E715UVDJ2 FW and then use UST Pro 6.0 (which I have) to reset the phone's contrast and resolution and judging from what limited info he would actually come right out and say, this is how they fix it when you RMA your phone to Samsung. He told me flat out it could be fixed without opening the phone in most cases.
Now, if someone would dump their E715UVDJ2 firmware and send it to me or post a link here, I will flash it and then run UST Pro on my E715 and see what happens. I will also try and mod the FW with a no camera sound mod, and maybe I'll even try to hook up that Star trek communicator sound for the folder tone, for you trekkie fans.
kali6959@yahoo.com (send FW here)
Cheers

E715UVDJ2 (from April or May of 2005) is the latest version. The Samsung guy I just talked on the phone 1 hour ago to told me so. Can you back it up and post a link to the FW so I can DL it and mod the thing?
Cheers

Looks like Rosewells site is down or something, you can try emailing him, just look for one of his posts I believe his email is enabled, or do a google for the firmware its out there.

perhaps google is different over here, but it isn't out there. you have done the exact operation i intend to do. i know you are busy, but perhaps you could send a copy of it?
or if anybody has x427m rev 1.2 i would love it if you could email it to gradybird@comcast.net
thanks
