I don't understand your question. You mean EasyGPRS software doesn't recognize the rington file you downloaded??
If it is the case, check this:
1. make sure your rington file has .mmf extension. Some may have extension of .ma2 or .ma3. (ma2 is for 16 poly, and ma3 is for 40 poly, and both ma2 and ma3 files are uploadable to your V20X) If the rington file's extension is different from .mmf, just make a change.
2. For older version of EasyGPRS software, a 40 poly rington file is not recognized. If this is your case, go to www.samsung.com to download the latest version. (I have version 2.1.2 and it recognizes any 40 poly rington with .mmf extension.)
3. May be your rington file is corrupted. Download mmf player and try to listen the rington file using that software.

First of all, as above you need to have the latest version of EasyGPRS and the latest version of psmplay. I don't understand why the psmplay wouldn't recognize .mid format. Second of all, you can't just change the file extension name. You have to actually convert the file to a .mmf file.

.mid, also known as midi file, is not a rington file which can go into your cell phone.
A rington file is simply reduced format of .mid file which can only use limited number of instruments. A standard midi file can use upto 128 instruments simultaneously whereas a standard .ma3 rington file can use upto 40 intruments. (16 for .ma2 and 4 for .ma1 format)
You must convert your midi file to a rington file in order to upload it to your mobile. Converting software can be found on the Yamaha's mobile sound solution webpage. (http://smaf-yamaha.com)
However, converting a midi file into a rington file is not an easy task. Converting 3-4 minute long midi file into a rington, there's no gurantee the rington will sound same due to loss of instruments, and you must still listen to unwanted part of the song. You may try doing this only if you are really interested. Otherwise just search for already converted rington files.
