I am closing in on my first month of usage of my V600.
Only real complaint is the battery life.
It will stay at 3 bars for a decent period of time (not real long) and then it is all down hill. It will go from 2 bars to 0 in no time at all. Kind of defeats the recommendation of letting your battery fully drain befor recharging, because you can be without power with very little notice.
Recharging seems to be quick; but you would think that one day, moderate usage, would not completely drain the battery. I called Motorola and they suggested first replacing the battery (which I recently did) and if the problem continues having the phone replaced. I got one days usage out of the new battery, which kinds of gives me the message that the phone may have the problem.
My 30 days for return to ATT runs out soon. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

What I've noticed is that the battery quickly charges up to the maximum 6 bars and then loses quickly. HOWEVER your not charging the battery fully up until you get the Charging Complete sign on the main screen.
To get that sign it takes a good couple of hours charging, depending upon what level of battery life it had previously...
I'd leave it charging overnight and see if you get the Charging Complete message. Then you might notice a difference in battery life...

Hello all,
I just received my V600 yesterday and have followed the instructions to charge the battery until it says Charging Complete message. In the morning, after I activated my phone and maybe talk on it for less than 10 minutes, I noticed that the battery bar goes down to 2 bars. Then couple hours later, went down to 1, then eventually dies after maybe of less than 30 minutes talk time. I find this UNHEARD and impossible for a complete new phone and battery, unless I got both a lemon of the phone and battery.
Another thing I noticed is that you can not use the phone to do ANYTHING while the phone is in charge mode. Is this right?? I find that can be frustrating and cannot believe Motorola would do that. So do I have a bad one or ??? I have been a Nokia user for the past 6 years and have no complaints..but unfortunately,Nokia does not provide a flip phone version that I am looking for. I had expected a little more than this for the price of this phone. Please advise and thanks in advance for your comments.

I have been able to charge the battery while doing other things. I have noticed the bar goes from 6 to 3 to 0 really fast after holding at full. I've never seen it use the odd numbers not shown in the top right icon.
It should be ok to not let the battery drain fully before recharging. This is needed for Ni-Cd batteries which will develop a memory if you don't (and kill the battery), however new cell phones use Li-ion which doesn't have this problem.

Well I can charge and play games, phone etc.
I've also played games for about an hour or so and it still don't move off the 6 bar mark!
Maybe we got a better battery in the UK?

The manual states it may take several charge/discharge cycles for the battery to reach its best performance. A flyer that came with the phone suggested completely discharging the battery before charging it, but there was no mention of this in the manual.
I have found with my other phones I did get longer battery time if the battery was fully discharged and then fully charged even with NiMH (memory free). Anyway, if you turn the display brightness down all the way it will extend battery life while turning it up all the way will help drain the battery and I have not noticed the need for a super bright display. This made a huge difference on the battery life in my Palm PDA and same with the phone.
Another suggestion on draining the battery is to turn on the camera which seems to bypass the display timeout.

i also find the battery life is pretty crep! It lasts around two days after fully charging and ,as u say, goes from two bars to dead dead dead really quickly. And once its dead, its DEAD!

Yeah, right now I am getting three days of full power. At the end of the third day when I lose a bar, I turn up the brightness on the display to the max and extend the display timeout to 60 seconds and can drain it before bed. It is a real surprise how fast it goes once it starts and it cannot be brought back to life once it goes.
