I just got a 3200, and so far so good. I guess I'll wait until my 15 day deadline is nearing to give final judgement. The phone is leaps and bounds over my old Nokia's from 7 years ago.
Read somewhere here about someone having trouble with a battery....
other than that, nothing negative on those...guess they might be pretty new.
I agree the TXT site's ringtones leave alot to be desired. Oh well.
At least I can get the theme to Sanford and Son. hahaha

My 15 day trial period is almost up on the 3200. I really wanted to be able to load ringtones and wallpapers on the phone. Vtext.com really didn't help much. My question is if we get the data cable, would we be able to load midi files on to the phone as ringtones? We have a MAC, so that might create a problem too. Has anyone purchased the Data Pilot USB software kit from Susteen? I really need a Beach Boys ringtone! Other than that, I really like this phone.

Here's an update: We purchased the DataPilot kit (DP200-124) Using just the cable and Bitpim my husband was able to download ringtones to his 4500; however when it came to my 3200--NOTHING. He tried Bitpim with my phone-nothing. He tried the software with the DataPilot-nothing. Actually the software with the DataPilot didn't even recognize his 4500. So then we purchased the specific data cable for the 3200 and still nothing. I'm beginning to wonder if this phone will ever be able to accept ringtones other than the ones at Vtext.

This phone has replaced the 4400 which is now obsoleted. Don't ask my why ..... if you can find a retailer that still has some in stock I would recommend you upgrading to that. DO NOT get the LG camera phone as it is NOT a tri-mode phone. Meaning, if you leave a digital area and need to switch to analog it will not be capable of doing so. If you anyone has any questions regarding their service, phone, or anything related I would be happy to assist you. |
The main reason I've found for people not being fans of the 3200 is they expect it, like most other phones, to have easy access to ringtones and play games and the like. Unfortunately, this phone doesn't support games and vtext.com is the safest, and pretty much currently only really reliable way to get ringtones (and even that gets akward, and their selection is horrid, really).
The 3200 is a great phone for people who just want to have a phone and aren't conscerned with the extras. Don't think you'll be using for phone for anything except just that - a phone? Then get a 3200.
I work for Verizon Wireless (I'm a Customer Care Representative), and I make sure to set proper expectations for this phone before selling it to anyone.
I have it myself. Only reason is because it was up to my Mom as to which phones we got I like it alright besides that. I don't text, I don't care for camera phones, and I don't play games ON my phone, so it works for me
