Hi
Was hoping a few of you could offer some advice or experience to a newbie on uploading images from camera phones to PC.
What exactly is needed to simply upload captured images to PC? Will a basic Data cable suffice, or do i need something else for a phone such as a 6610i or a 7200?
Are the cables differenct for every phone, or is there considerable overlap?
Like most of you, I feel the cost of transmitting images via MMS is way too expensive, and instead would like to send my pictures via e-mail - I'd be grateful to hear from those who upload their captured images to let me know what is involved and what the cost is for getting the means to do this.
Many thanks
Andy

U can use the original nokia data cables(dku-2 or dku-5, depending on model) for transmitting data betn phone and pc. U can alternatively use an InfraRed port or Bluetooth port(if applicable). U will also need the pc suite which is available at the nokia site.

The reason I'm asking is that i wish to compile a number of captured images from a number of different phones to create a gallery.
Basically, I want to find the cheapest solution to upload camera phone images to my PC.
From what i have read, Infrared seems to be the most cost effective way of doing this - and because many data cables don't allow 2-way exchanges.
I've don't know if infrared is the solution, or if a cost is incurred by the operator - does anyone know?
Cheers
Andy

Yes, infrared and bluetooth port adaptors are the best buy bcos, they r universal i.e. for e.g. an infrared adaptor can be used by any fone with infrared port.

Depending on your phone model, if you want a cable you need either the DKU-2 or DKU-5, both of which can be bought from eBay for approx £10 (GBP). DKU cables allow you to send data from mobile to phone and vice versa
Obviously if you have more than one phone you might need both cables, or you could get an infra-red cable, which will cost between £10-£15 on eBay. Phone must have infrared and it'll work. Considerably slower than the cable in speed of transfer and im not too sure but not everything can be sent rcvd with them (sms txts i think only cant be sent... not sure).
Or theres bluetooth which obviously your phone must have. Bluuetooth dongles cost about £15- £25 on eBay. Faster than IR but still slower than cable in transfer speeds.
Irda and bluetooth both do not incur a charge from your operator. But in some cases bluetooth has to be activated on the handset

IR and BT can be used to perform all functions that can be done with the dku cables. Since ur basic requirement is the transfer of photos, i think IR or BT shd suit u fine.

i'm having sort of the same problem. my mom and i both have the same phone (nokia 3500) and we have been able to send pictures to each other by just pionting the phones at each other and hitting 'send via infrared'. i am trying to do the same with my computer
and i have gotten the phone and the computer to acknowledge each other, but the computer can't recive anything the phone sends, or visa-versa. form what i have heard, i should be able to do that with the computer and phone, but it just won't work.
never mind! i got it to work. thanks anyway!
