 I've just upgraded from a Nokia 6310i to a Motorola v600. I used to be able to assign ring tones to caller groups - ie. family; business etc and then when I wanted to change the ring, I changed it once and all numbers in that group changed in one go. Am I being thick, or do I have to assign a ring to individual numbers (not even individual people with multiple numbers) now and then change each one if I decide to change the ringtone??

OK, so maybe I am being thick - I have looked in the manual and on the motorola website - obviously not in the right places!! Where abouts in the manual please?

Try
(menu means press the menu key)
Phonebook > menu > categories > select the category you wish to edit and press menu > edit > ringer id
To assign a number to a category
phonebook > select the entry and press menu > edit > and change the category there

Thanks for that Pict. I must have the same copy of the manual as Webster does, cause I scoured it from front to back and I couldn't find the instructions on how to do it either. Having not used a Motorola phone for about 5 years, the menus and layout have been a whole new learning curve! Thanks again, job done!

Many thanks Pict, that's exactly what I wanted. I must admit that I found the manual almost useless for anything more than the basic functions. I found out by accident that you can change the 'Ring Style' whilst the phone is closed by using the volume up/down and then the other little button to change - a very handy feature, but not documented anywhere as far as I can see.

The manual I got with mine is an Orange specific one. It deals more with connecting with Orange services etc than setting up the phone itself. I have found loads just by playing. It annoys me when people jump quick and state RTFM when not all people get great manuals.
