Hi-

First of all, let me apologize if this is well-covered territory. I really appreciate your patience.

My question:

I have an infrared port on my laptop. If I bought an e715, would I be able to transmit pictures that i take on my phone to my laptop using the IR port?

If anyone knows, I'd love confirmation for this feature. Also, if anyone actually has done this, I would really appreciate it if they would describe the process.

Next question-

Is the Samsung EasyGSRP software free? If so, where can I download it? If not, where do I buy it? Ideally, I'd like to buy it without the data cable, since using infrared would mean i don't need the data cable in the first place.

In fact, if anyone has done ANYTHING involving infrared and the e715, i would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks again

Bump.

Once again, just one question:

Can anyone confirm that you can use EasyGPRS to transfer images taken by a Samsung e715 to a computer over IrDA?

Thanks again

Hi all,

I just wanted to share some info for those who might have the same problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been having some problems trying to transfer files through my laptop's infrared (IrDA) port. I am under the impression that it is a faulty software problem because my laptop seems to be able to connect with other infrared devices just fine.

It seems that although the computer can actually detect and report that it "sees" my phone, Samsung SGH-E715, the software I got from thier official site, EasyGPRS (ver.2.1.8 ) does not seem to work. I can't connect or do anything and the software acts as if the phone wasn't connected in the first place. Tried changing to all the connection speeds avaliable, but nothing happened.

The only problems I can think of are:

1) I'm using an old Acer Travelmate 517TE running windows 98 SE. (I've heard that some XP users have no problem with data transfer) I guess it's time for a new laptop! icon_lol.gif

2) The EasyGPRS software is buggy. Maybe all phone to PC software are. icon_razz.gif Had a nokia once, and their Data suite software was also a pain to use.

3) The last thing I could think of is that I've got the wrong driver for the IrDA port (is that possible? I have no idea...) I was browsing through and found a site that had links to IrDA divers although I didn't really get to try it yet.

>>IrDA drivers

http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/~kiszka/IrCOMM2k/Downloads/IrCOMM2k-2. 0.0-beta2.exe

Well, good luck to all those having the same problems. If I find a solution in the end I'll come back and post about it. Oh almost forgot to ask if anyone knows whether the Mobile action MA620 USB Infra Adapter thing really works for the E715 or not. Their official site (right at the front page) says it does, but I've heard people from other posts complain that it's not working for their phones.

Hey Don, you said you could do it. Can you please give me the details of your setup? It would help me a lot because I really want to know if it's my computer or the software that's causing all this.

Last but not least, this site rocks ! It helped me a lot and I'm sure others feel the same way as well. icon_angel.gif

Hi

Program Files> Easy GPRS> Setup> Port> IrDA

That should fix it.

Cheers,

I tried all the steps above mentioned and still am not able to transfer any data to the phone.

It always gives me an error message saying, the destination is actively refusing any transfer. Should I do something in my mobile icon_confused.gif

Thanks in advance

I was able to get IrDA to work with E715 and EasyGPRS.

First I got my laptop (HPZD7000, WinXP) to recognize the SGH-E715. I went Control Panal>System>Hardware Tab>Device Manager Then I went to the IrDA properties. On the Advanced Tab in the IrDA Fast Infrared Port Properties I had to change the Infrared Transceiver A Value: to something that would detect the phone. (which was HP HSDL-2300/3600 for my laptop) As soon as I changed and applied that It showed up in the taskbar.

Second thing significant that had to happen is an actual connection rate with the IrDA device. In the taskbar it says "Wireless link with SAMSUNG SGH-E715 @ 115200 bps"
what I did is create a IrDA connection in Network Connections. I was fu@#in around with the network connections and got a window to show up that asked to search the net for software for my IrDA device. It found drivers on my laptop windows already had. Sorry I dont know what exactly got it to work.

If you can get it to recognize the phone but not connect to it right click on the IrDA icon in the taskbar go to the Image Transfer Tab and check the "Use Wireless Link to transfer images from digital amera to your computer." box. That may have got it to work.

Feel free to ask me questions. Tried to write this clear as possible.

hey guys

i just got a E715 as a gift. my dad's laptop has an infrared connection on the back of the laptop.
im wondering where can i get the latest software (im guessing this easygprs ?) and a working link - ive tried so many around these forums and none worked please. and what can i do with it ? copy pix from cellphone to comp, can i copy .wav files or something as ringtones on my cellphone or what?
also, im wondering if theres any mod to make the cellphone read unicode as we're in israel and the cellphone is from the US so it doesnt display any characters on hebrew stuff ?
and lastly, how can i adjust the brightness on the display itself - no the camera but the display, it was really bright yesterday, today it seems fine but i donnu i dont want it to happen again icon_smile.gif
lastly, does this cellphone take videos or just photos ? seems like just photos

edit: just noticed i bumped this thread back from 2 years ago LOL!!!
anyways thanks for the help please if you may answer all my questions that would just rock the house icon_smile.gif

Thanks guys,
