Very similar problem with the t725. The sounds through the earpiece is distorted, muffed and a real problem.

More info. on muffled mic.
I was testing the headset by recording a voice record. I finally decided to leave my self a voice mail at work and noticed that my voice was much louder( still dirty in terms of quality but not muffled). Turns out the muffled voice is someting with the voice record app in the phone. I bought a plantronics m153-m1 and it has a boom mic and seems better at noise cancelling then the one included with the phone.
Voice records are still muffled but I don't use those anyway.
Also, got my refurb today from ATTWS ( 2 days after ordered) and it does the same thing. Voice record is muffled but actual conversations are not. So I guess I'll keep my original.
