Is the 1.7 firmware available anywhere or from anyone?
I would very much like to try it. If it is for Rogers, that would be great. I'm trying to get my X426 to work on Fido and I'm having trouble. It was originally an AT&T phone, but since I loaded the unlocked 1.6 firmware from Roswells' site, I can use the phone on Rogers with a Rogers SIM, no problem. When I put a Fido SIM in it though... I get error messages like SIM crash. It is the same as Liquid's post here http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic18755-0-asc-10.html. Just like Liquid, I have not been able to get my USB cable to work with Cerebros, WinIMEI, or any of the unlocking/mod tools except for Optiflash and EasyGPRS. My cable does not have a switch on it to change modes...
So, if anyone could help me get my hands on the 1.7 firmware, I would appreciate it. Any ideas or advice would be good too. You can reach me at tigerstyle24@hotmail.com.
Cheers

Noone seems to want to post the 1.7 although I have offered to host it with credit to whoever decides to get it to me. Also, your link seems to be dead? I tried to click it to see if I could get a feel for what was up, but it says page error.

Look down about two posts and there is info on unlocking with a USB data cable and a link to the drivers you will need to complete the operation

I have read that post and I can flash the phones firmware okay, so I don't think it's a driver issue with the cable. I think there is another incompatibility with USB data cables and the unlocking/mod tools available. I can use Easy GPRS to up ringtones and pictures to the phone, just can't use Cerebros and WinIMEI and that sorta stuff.
I have a little more information on the SIM Crash error problem if you are interested. I tried Liquids Fido card in my X426 and it works fine! Rogers cards work fine too! It's just my Fido SIM that seems to be the problem. I took the SIM and the phone in to my local dealer today and showed them the problem, believing it to be a SIM defect. I got a new SIM and it has the same problem in this X426. It seems to be that Fido changed SIM cards about a year ago and is now using a higher capacity card, which I believe is marked SM32. Older ones I believe are marked M32. My current theory is that M32 cards work and SM32 cards are not compatible with either the phone or the firmware. This is based partly on fact and partly on my interpretation. I'll post more when I find out.
I would still really like to get my hands on the 1.7 firmware to do some more testing. So if anyone has access, can provide it or even point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thanks again
Cheers

Yeah, that is what I was trying to explain to you on your other post. They upgraded SIM cards to be higher capoacity, but only certain phones or newer models (depending on what they did about it) support these new "better" cards, this creates a problem for those of us trying to use newer cards with older phones. Just wait till they start using the M64. They already have them. I forget where I saw them but they are basically double sized (memory not physical) SIMs

Well, thats highly annoying. I wonder if there is some kinda hardware mod that can be done, or some way of adjusting the firmware. Also, I wonder if thats what the version 1.7 firmware fixes, all speculation on my part, but would be interesting. C'MON someone out there has to have a copy of version 1.7 firmware. Dont make me get on my knees and beg. LOL .... Anyways, Peace.

I've tried the *#9999# to find out my firmware version but all I get is a spinning hour glass and a box popping up that says "Not Done".
Can anyone suggest another method to view this info??
