What version do you have? (hit *#9999#)
If you have X46UEDC1, Ver. 1.6, you're fine. Ver. 1.5 has been troublesome.
The firmware you're asking for is the firmware for the Rogers Wireless (Canadian) version of the 426.
You use Optiflash to update the phone. There's a lot of info in the "Firmwares and Flashers" section.

I have two x426 phones.... one is in "return for service" mode for too many unlock attempts the other is brand new and working great. It has been asked before, but not really answered, if I backup the good one using the procedure in one of the other threads (using OptiFlash) can the backup be used to re-flash the other???
Thanks

you can back one up, flash the other and fix the problem. But if it isn't version 1.7, how does that help us?

Would it help if I posted my backup? (I have X426UXDD1 rev1.7)
What settings should I set in OptiFlash?
Will there be a problem with my IMEI?

Under Options -> Settings -> Backup make sure the only region listed is 0x00000000 - 0x00ffffff and clear out any others. The IMEI won't be a problem for you. Anyone using the firmware just has to change it back to thier own number. If you can't post it here, email it to roswell108@msn.com and I will post it here. Thx.

Will do. Just out of curiosity, what memmory range is the IMEI stored?
BTW I did the backup and restore thing and it worked like a charm... the only issue was that it carried over all the settings, images and ringtunes too!
Is this because I backed up too much? I used the ranges:
0x00000000 - 0x00001fff
0x00004000 - 0x00ffffff
- user (yoo'ser): Can't live with them, can't shoot/stab/maim/send them all to /dev/nul/

It is normal for the ringtones and such to carry over. You did the right regions for a full backup. If you didn't want everything to carry over, you would have to find what regions the items are in and not include them. Sadly, I have only done full backs so I don't know the exact regions for things like ringtones, pictures, ect. I just find exact regions for a specific ringtone or whatever it may be. Either way I am glad to hear it worked. If you would like to post your firmware, but are worried about the IMEI, I can wipe the IMEI with my changer by making it all 0's. Later.
