Unfortunately, AMR ringtones do not have the same quality as that of a MP3 tone mainly due to the very low sampling rate of 8khz or less. Hence, AMRs won't be as loud as u want them to be. Nevertheless, try using some software like QT Pro for the same.

ah, right. I am going through the grief of a vodafone branded K700
I have spoken to SE UK and they told me that they can't/won't change the firmware to remove the vodafone branding. I have also spoken to the carphone warehouse and they one person said if they try to remove the voda branding, it just comes back once you insert the sim and it connects to the network, another said they can't do anything with the K700 as they have only had it for 2 days and have no software for it yet................
I'm running out of time on my 14 day cool-off period and I'm going to have to give them the phone back at this rate - I want mp3 ringtones !
carphone r fillin u a load of bull, theres no physical way that a fone can magically reload previous firmware on2 it, because the whole idea of flashing/updating is 2 get rid of the old firmware, and install the new one, to improve the features and realibility of the fone, they either dont av the software yet 2 do this, ior jus cudnt b bothered. go 2 phones 4 u an get it on o2, they r unbranded versions

Just upload the mp3 file to your phone and you may use it for listening pleasure or set as ringtone or alarm.

I have had my K700i for a week. I finally got bluetooth and decided to use sony soundforge to snip some of my fave dance tunes to use as mp3 ringtones.... dunno if its just my fone or something i did but it sounds like somone playing a walkman in a bean tin. I saved my MP3 as 41,000hz 8bit like the MP3 ringtones that were already in it but....
it starts to crackle as if it cannot handle it. I am on 02 so i know i have no restrictions... I also found it to have all the security of a just burgled house... ie.. no phone lock unless you turn it off and back on again (like anyone wants to do that), user controlled baring is not supported by o2 (after 2 hours of the fone stuck to my head before they could make up their minds wether it was or not) and the only other lock is if someone removes the sim... as if they're gonna remove a functioning contract sim when they can just abuse it untill i discover it lost or stolen.
But... all in all I'm impressed with it other than that. yet, i find it not to be worth £599.. far from it... it doesnt have many more features than the T610.. and since I exclusively bought it for True tones / MP3 It looks as though It will be going back, as I'm not prepared to pay £25 a month for a glorified T610 that plays ringtones like a badly tuned transistor radio. lol
I have even gotten some true tones from various sites but its still the same. I also got a polyphonic that sounds absolutely rough when it peaks. I'm thinking this phone may be damaged.
Any Ideas and suggestions? I would really love to keep this phone, but I'm fighting for reasons to keep it.
My previous handset was a Nokia 7650 which spent 4 months in the shop for keypad faults.. bearing in mind I had only had it 1 month before it started doing this. It has just cost me £57 to terminate that damn contract, and another £50 to get this one I'm with now.
Ehhh the price of modern technology eh. haah
Oh and if anyone would be so kind as to point me to a tone that a K700 owner knows to peak good on their phone so I can test mine out, I would be greatfull as I only have 7 days remaining on my cooling off period due to my having to wait 5 days from signing up for this k700 to arrive. in the mean time i had to make do with a Motorola v600.
Thanks!
EDIT/// Have just discovered the k700 will hold on average seven 5 minute full mp3 songs.. so with a combination of that and ear phones/handsfree kit that comes with it for radio listening.. it is a cracking MP3 player with equilizer settings... and it sounds just like a CD walkman
