Either pay att to give you the code, get the cable and a program and unlock it, or deal with the fact that it is a locked phone until you find someone who can unlock it for you. The codes are usually bad news, because getting them wrong can lock your phone from even ordinary use. It is best to leave the phone locked unless you have another sim you have to use in it.

I just loined, you can easily unlock this phone. You have to set up a new rom. I have a rom or you can build one at

Please visit this site before syncing to unlock your phone:

You can e-mail me to get further info.

I work at the customer service call center for AT&T Wireless/ Cingular, and we are un able to give out unlock codes (we dont have them) so the only ways to do it would be to contact the manufacturer or find them online. just be warned, warranty exchange depts, will not fix the phones if you have problems connecting to the internet service, because i am told that you will have problems connecting.

You will have to get the PUK, probably from AT&T customer service (good luck with that one). I messed up and locked my SIM. Called Cingular (you might want to try them first...they're good) and they not only gave me the PUK code, but walked me through the thing I wanted to do when I messed up. It works fine now.

I had a samsung X426 Go phone for about 3 months and then service went to cingular. I went to activate my service with cingular and was told they had the lock codes but they wouldn't do it.

a PUK code and a SIM unlock code are 2 very different things
a PUK code will not unlock the phone so you can use another carriers SIM

I learned two things today.
1. Persistence pays off
2. Locked Phone and SIM Lock are different things.
Background, I am an ATT customer being serviced my Cingular.
I do not wish to change my service plan.
Many Cingular reps lied to me telling me that I could only find an ATT phone or buy a Cingular plan.
I decided to roll the dice and purchased a new "Unlocked" GSM world phone from Ebay (Motorola MPX220).
I popped in my ATT SIM card and the new phone presented a message saying "SIM LOCKED".
I telephoned Cingular and was told that I would have to call Motorola because it was a locked phone.
I called Motorola and received a very detailed explanation about locked phone vs. locked SIM card and that my problem was with the SIM card not the phone.
I called Cingular back and heard the same song and dance about having a locked phone and there being nothing they could do. I suggested we conference call with Motorola and was then transferred to another service rep who identified my problem as a locked SIM card which has nothing to do with the phone.
The Cingular rep then asked me for the 20 digits printed on my SIM card and then provided me with 2 coded to enter. The first caused my SIM card to ask for a PUK code and once entered my phone worked properly.
Be persistent and explain that the problem is with their card not your phone. They can absolutly help you unlock you SIM card for FREE!!!
