I purchased a T-Mobile Samsung E715 phone in New York, U.S.A. and carried it to Jamaica, but when I turn on the phone, It automatically picks up our Cable & Wireless (Ja.) Limited Network (338-180) which operates on the 900/1800 Bands. I use Digicel (Ja.) Limited Network and have their Simm Card, which operates on the 900/1900 Band. I got someone who changed the frequency on the chip which enabled it to pick up Digicel (Ja.) Limited Network, but if I turn off the phone I cannot pick up the Digicel Network automatically when I turn it on again. Finally, if I go to an area where there is not Cable & Wireless coverage, I pick up the Digicel (Ja.) Limited Network.

Can you tell me what is happening and if there is a permanent fix?

How did that someone changed the frequency on the chip?

Flash your E715 to E710 that will fix your problem. http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic4919.html
You'll need:
- Datacable PCB093LBE aka V200/P400/S300/X400/D410/P100 data cable.
- Optiflash 3.7.0.1
- E710CPDE4 : Tue May 25 12:13:01 2004 or
- E710XXDE5 : Tue May 25 11:46:58 2004 and
- a pc or laptop.

The E710 has video and it works in asia on the bands 900/1800MHz flash your phone with one of these e710 firmwares:
- E710CPDE4
- E710XXDE5

PS: im not sure which bands they use in Asia but i think its 900/1800MHz and if its not so you can still use it there cause the E715 firmwares use the 900/1900MHz bands but than you'll have to miss the video recording feature.

Hi Don,

Many thanks...

Say... do you know any websites that are selling E710 unlocked to any service? I've been searching high and low and still can't find it at all icon_sad.gif

In Malaysia, chance are very very slim to find a E715 and those are 2nd hand units.

E710.. forget it icon_biggrin.gif

So do advise Don.

Say, does the E715/E710 use Easy Studio or EasyGPRS?

I have my contacts and all backed up in EasyStudio, can it be converted to EasyGPRS?
