I recently got a new Nokia 6220 and want to put some games, pictures, wallpapers and stuff un it. My (also new) laptop has an infrared port on it. I want to be able to connect them, which I know is possible. I activate the infrared setting on my phone and put it close to the laptop and point both infrared ports to each other, but no matter what I do, I can't get the laptop to detect it, any ideas?
I've looked where the infrared port is on my phone and I can't see any light coming out of it, is this normal? What can I do to get it working.
If you don't have any ideas could someone in Australia recommend me a shop in which I will be able to find a compatible phone to computer cable for under $50 AUD?

First of all:
Check in the hardware manager if the IrDA device is properly installed (or installed at all).
Normally it should be done on laptops.
If so, try reducing the speed of the IrDA, which helps in most cases.
And yes, it is normal, you won't see any light. Inrared can't be seen by the human eye.

I have a similar problem. The Nokia 6220 that I bought recently has failed to work properly with the computer. I installed a USB-IrDA adapter but when I connect the phone Windows 2000 tries to detect and install it as a modem. After identifying the phone the computer restarts. So i gave up on installing the phone. But whenever I try to work with Nokia PC Suite the phone cannot be detected by the suite although I can see its infrared connection on the system tray.
When I initiate a connection with Nokia PC Suite the infrared connection gets lost with the following error
| Quote: | Wireless link interrupted
You link is either blocked or the device has moved out of range. |
Yet nothing is actually blocking the device. However I've been able to transfer some files to the phone using the "transfer files feature" on the system tray.
I wonder what could be the problem?

Yes I did chose that, the problem is the infrared doesn't seem to detect it at all. I have a feeling I don't have infrared installed in the right place, the only thing to do with infrared in device manager sais 'infrared through communication port' or something like that even though I don't have an infrared adapter in the COM port, did I install it wrong?
What do I do to make sure its installed properly?

U dont see an infrared device under COM ports. When u connected ur IR adaptor to USB, u will see "Infrared Connectivity Device" in Device Manager. If you see this, it means the drivers are properly installed.
Also wat OS r u using?

I'm using windows XP, and its a laptop with built-in infrared. So I don't HAVE an infrared adapter connected to anything.
