What kind of ringtones does a Samsung X427.I just ordered it yesterday and picking it up today. I want to get everything ready so I can just start downloading ringtones. So is it MP3 or MIDI, or some thing else?

The good news is, it's both! The bad news is, mp3's need some processing before they can be processed into *.mmf ringtones, with mp3's needing 2 steps. psmplay5.0 will convert *.wav and *.mid files to *.mmf ringtone files. for the mp3's you'll wana convert them to wav (winamp can do this for you) then process the wav with psmplay to a 16 chord ezweb SMAF file. midi files can be converted to 40 chord ezweb SMAF files. The converted files can then be sent to your phone via your data cable and EasyGPRS software. There is a psmplay tutorial in these forums as well.
You can download psmplayer at:

You can get an example of a converted midi file, and a converted mp3 file here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/myrings
go to the file section, and you can download the tones.

And then you just upload the converted .mmf file somewhere and put that in my WAP browser?

Like I said, I have the data cable and EasyGPRS software, so I use them to get the tones to my phone. I don't really know another way...besides, I don't wanna pay the kb charge to download them off the network. you can get the cable off eBay for like 10 bucks, just search "x427 data". EasyGPRS is a free download from Samsung, and it contains many extra ringtones and wallpaper as well.
