Well, "jar" files are the real game files. "jad" files are including some information about installation path, file size, vendor name, version etc.
You need both of them to install the game to your phone. Sometimes you will need to edit jad files to fix the installation path (for local disk) if it includes an url adress... icon_blink.gif

JAD stands for Java Application Descriptor. Like Can said it describes the JAR file which is the actual application (actually the JAR is a compressed version of the Java classes and images etc... that make up the application and can be opened with ZIP software).

Hi, I have the 6100 and I bought a data cable for it (the USB one). I was wondering how I get new games for it without paying. Is there a site I can download them from? And once I have them how do I get them onto my phone.

Thanks!

You may use MobiMB or Nokia Game Installer. To transfer games from your PC to your phone.

Nokia Game Installer should come with the Nokia PC suite when you purchase the phone. If not, you can download from Nokia website for free.

I've just become the proud owner of a 6100 buit was a bit disappointed that the only game it ships with is some Chess puzzle game. You don't even get Snake these days! Which cable do you need to get in order to transfer new content to/from your phone from your pc? Do Nokia themselves have a proprietary cable?

There is a DKU-5 data cable which you can connect between your pc (USB) and your phone. Alternatively you can use infrared.

Hello,

If you open it as a text you'll see what is about. Right click on it you see many options choose Notepad or browse where is located. You can also open directly with Notepad. Open the application notepad.exe under the file type change to all files than clikc file>open and choose the file you want to open with notepad.

I have the 7210 also and installed a free PacMan app. It's great quality. Let me know if you would still like it.
