Hello, I just purchased a Nokia 6230, and I was wondering what types of memory cards I could use to upgrade?

For example, will a Kingston Technology 512MB Secure Digital Card work?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Symbian OS; SonyEricsson P800; 306) Opera 6.30 [en])

Only mmc cards will work. SD cards will not work. 128 & 256 mb mmcs surely work, 512 mb also should, 1Gb mebbe, cant say.

most nokia phones can handle a maximum of 128MB memory cards. i saw this in a systems specs website covering most phones. sorry can't post the link here. search the web for it.

there is also the fact that some owners of 6600 here in the phils. readily giv up their 256 MB memory cards because apparently the 6600 can't handle more than 128MB.

And why am I using a 256 MB MMC in my 6600 without any problem? icon_wink.gif

In that case the people you know just had bad cards. Some work, some not.

Mine is from Extrememory, very cheap cards. Most people do have problems with Extrememory MMCs, that's because they buy overproductions cheap (or MMCs that don't accomplish the specs of the original manufacturer - It's compareable with No-Nome RAM for computers... mostly they are the stuff which doesn't accomplish the high specs of infineon (as example) - so it's sold cheap as no-name) and there could be some faulty one which will work with everything except phones.

First of all, thanks everyone. So Bjoern, are you saying that you got your card from Extrememory, but you were lucky that it works? And with the 6600 only holding 128, how about the 6230? Thanks.

As I say: it's not the size that always matters...

The 6230 should work with 512 MB without problems (otherwise manufactureres fault).

1 GB can't be told, not many people have one (I know nobody who has one).

Just put it in. If it needs to be formated, the phone can do it as well.

If the phone doesn't recognizes the card, either the card has a defect or isn't supported by the phone.
