OK, so I'veascertained rom this forum that a data cable will be more useful than an IR setup for my V205. If anyone disagrees, please speak up...this is a learning experience for me.
Having said this, can you suggest the best package for synchronizing /backing up the phone book records of the sim card/phone memory to my PC. I've seen Data Pilot as well as another slightly less expensive title. Are there shareware/freeware titles that work well?
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Phone data suite from Mobile Action is supposed to be pretty good (so they claim) I have ordered it, but haven't used it yet. You are supposed to be able to sync the outlook Address/Calender folders. I think it only supports Import / Export of the phone book, but supports sync on the Calendar / Task List.
I can let you know what i think after I test it, but I really have nothing to compare it too.

I just got a V205 and I'm already as frustrated with lack of sync capability as most people here sound. I just found a new software (released end of July, after the most recent posts here) on the Web at samsungsync.com - it claims to be compatible with the V205 but when I mentioned to the people at Samsung itself they said they'd never heard of it and didn't know if it was in fact compatible with the V205. The company that sells it seems to have no web presence at all and can't be contacted. So if anyone out there has heard of it or even better used it, please let me know. Thanks.

Silly question, sorry, but that works with the V205 not just the V200? I don't really understand why the people at Samsung make this sound so difficult.

I bought the samsungsync v2.2 and the OEM serial data cable.
It works well. I only had one problem with the samsungsync....for some reason it put a space at the beginning of 10 of my contacts (I have over 200). Once I imported them into EASYGPRS I just took the spaces out. It was a little bit of a pain, but other than that, no problem.
This is what I hate about the v205 organizer (calendar):
1. it will only hold 30 entries (are you kidding me, that only about a month on my outlook). Along with this....since it only holds 30 entries, I have to manually delete old entries out of gprs to put new ones in.
2. It doesn't have any reminders (ticklers). In outlook I have it setup to remind me 30 minutes in advance before the event. In the v205 it will only alarm when it's time for the event.
3. For the alarm, I can only figure out how to do the standard noise....no options for vibrate or personal tones that I have found
The v205 is lacking very much for the organizer....and I am very disappointed coming from the Motorola v.60 and the Motorola p280.
The other feature I think is missing is when I send a text message I can't pull up the phone book...so I have to type in the address. Maybe I just don't know how to do it???
Other than that, I love the phone. I hope Samsung will improve on this in the future to make it the almost perfect phone!
