Hi there,
I bought a samsung e700 of ebay a week back, got it yesterday and as described in the auction the keypad wasnt working. while i was playing with it i stuck the headset into it and the keypad came alive!
So i did a factory reset, turned off the phone and removed the headset, turned the phone back on and again it gets stuck, the phone can only operate when the handsfree headset is stuck in the port, but of course i cant carry around the headset into the port all the time!
Is this a failure in the software? Does it require a reflash, i dont know the software version, if you need it im sure there must be a code to enter to obtain it.
Please help, i really want this phone to work, its in mint condition and i bought it for £105 while others are selling for £100 more!

Thats not a software problem its hardware the whole e700 is buggy. Try to restart your phone by removing the battery not with the on/off button.

Hi there Don,
Ive tried all of that and more, anything i could think off, all internet articles and my knowledge on mobiles...no avail.
I came up with a solution, i got a paper clip, cut it up into three equal segments and stuck those into the head phone jack so that the phone thinks its out of handsfree...but isnt and really im just mimicing a headphone's end piece.
It works wonders, it doesnt make calls however until i remove that, well it does but i just cant speak.
But i only use my phone for texting which is okay, i have another few i can use. Might just resell it onto ebay as fixed, and describe its new fault. It was only just over £100. But im content with it as i only text.
Thanks for the info

Don,
That doesn't work either. I do now think it is a hardware problem.
