ok i have the family share plan with national access. im not the primary phone so im not "in". but if i have the roaming triangle blinking does that mean i get roaming charges, or just im out of local area? cause when i call it says roaming on my vx4400 but im not sure if we get the charge for it. if someone can clear this up i would appreciate it.

It the icon is blinking it means that you are on Verizon 's extended network and it is not a valid roaming charge. A solid roam indicator on your phone indicate a valid roam charge.
Dial *228 then press the send key when prompted to enter a selection press 2. This will keep your phone updated.

When you make a call and it says roaming... you need to dial the area code first. other than that... the above post is correct.

To update your Prl by dial *228 you have to go into the verizon all digital service, usally indicated by a 1X, it can not be roaming or in extended network or analog period
