Hi mate , I just set mine up just now , hopefully you went through all the driver setup bit at the start when you plugged in your USB , like i didn't get the first time i tried , anyway after that , when you've installed the phone manager , you go into transfers at the top , then go to select port and there should be one with a * next to it , but make sure the USB selection below is chosen first as it starts off on the IRDa(infra-red) setting , when you have selected the USB setting and chosen the port with the * next to it you are all set up and you should be able to connect no problem . Also make sure your phone is switched on to . As for your query about downloading music and stuff from your pc , i don't know yet , i haven't figured that one out yet , lol . Good luck and if you get any joy with getting stuff onto your phone can you let me know how you do it too ?
Good Luck ,
Goggsie

To trasfer the things you want to, when you go into the phone manager - with everything connected of course - there is an icon with the phone on it and a '+' next to it. If you click on this 3 folders appear - "Audio", "Images" and "Video". Just click in anyone of them and this shows you the data in those folders. To transfer simply find the things you want to transfer and then drag them into the required folder and wait for the program to do its thing and that's all there is to it.
Hope this helps

Does anyone else have this problem?
Having recently bought a data cable from the shops and downloaded the latest software from LG's website i have managed to freely transfer just about anything i wanted to to and from my LG, however, there is just one minor snag. When i am done transferring and i disconnect, the phone says 'Transfer finished' then stops responding completely, i have to remove the battery to get it working again.
Any ideas??

A little trick...
take your phone with your micro or mini SD card and go to "Menu" -> "Settings and Tools" -> "Memory" -> "Card Memory" -> "OK" -> "options" and format your card.
Once you have formated the card remove the SD card and put it in your PDA. Sync your PDA to your computer. In "My Computer" go to the Mobile Device and find the "SD" folder. In this folder you will see how your VX8300 has formatted the card.
Take you music (MP3 format) and put it in the "my_mp3" folder. Replace the card in your phone and go to "Get it Now" -> "Get tunes and tones" -> "My MP3's"
you can now play your mp3's with out the 30 software package from verizon

one more thing with the PDA idea... make sure your phone is set to enable the mp3 player... go to "menu" -> press the zero key "0" and all zero's for the service code... go to "11" "Music settings" and enable the MP3 player
