Hi,
This is supposed to be in almost any sonyericsson. You'll need to flash your phone. But never heard of anyone succeeded with this task.
Thank you,

this is how u get rid of it, u can either switch to meeting profile or turn ur ringtone volume to 0, in meeting mode the ringtone vol = 0 so its got no shutter sound

Hi out there
Just got a few days my new k700i and i was already angry about one feature: the shutter sound...
Tried the solution on the sonyericsson homepage to exclude sound with holding "#" but nothing, now also the meeting mode did not work!
SonyEricsson says it should work, so the operator has maybe overwritten the program, the operator says he didn't, so who is responsible now?
Any help would be appreciated...
Rest of the phone is great, maybe should have waited until a new model comes out with memory card slot. But o.k., happy I can still text and talk, should be the main features

Works for me,
press and hold # and the music notes with a red line appears on the menu bar at the top.
Camera is now silent.
I have a non branded unlocked k700i

Hi people.
I just got mine for about two weeks now.. and like crazyjeeper1, the camera sound is still on. Even pressing and holding the # doesn't seem to have a red line appearing on the bar at the top...

Seems like new firmware provides no way for us to mute the camera shutter sound. I figure Sony Ericsson does not want to be held responsible for people taking pictures at inappropriate places without someone else around hearing it.
I don't know if there's a hack to get around this.

The only thing that can be done is just just switch to some other phone may be sony ericsson k750i
