I have cingular service. I just received a nokia 3595 that was made for t-mobile. I was able to unlock the phone. I inserted my sim card and the phone works fine as a cell phone. my problem is how to change the default internet connection settings to cingular? the only option it shows is "t-zones" (t-zone for service, t-zone for game downloads, t-zone for graphic downloads, t-zone for tones download, etc).

Go there and let them send you the correct settings.

I went to browser setup and filled in all the information but unfortunately my phone never received the sms it tells me it sent.
I tried multiple times. It gave me two choices for my service (express or roam); I tried both on different tries to no avail.

Try it another time. When I let them send me the settings for my 6600 it never got the messages the first time... tried it another day at another time and it worked.
Or visit your providers homepage, normally they offer you this service too (or at least let you see the settings)

I appreciate your help, bjoern, but nokia.com is still not working for me. I visited the cingular site and found the actual device settings they use to configure phones but I cannot figure out how to input these settings into the phone manually.

i guess my last resort is to actually call cingular for help, but from past experience, they usually don't help at all.

Well, the pdf file you'Ve linked contains the settings on Page 10/11.
Settings Name Cingular Wireless Internet Express
Home Page http://device:home or http://device.home
Session Mode Permanent
Connection Security On
APN wap.cingular (lowercase)
PDP_Type IP Gateway
IP Address 66.209.11.61
Authentication Type Secure
Login Type Automatic
User Name WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (All upper case)
Password CINGULAR1 (All upper case)
Some stuff might not have the same name as in your phone, but normally it's pretty simple to enter the settings manually.

um....how do i enter these manually? i have no access to these settings as i explore all of the phone's menus. i looked at the manual and it doesn't help (it basically says the service provider should have set up all the settings for you beforehand).

Seems like T-Mobile has locked the settings and hidden the menu so nobody can change them to make sure the phone won't be used with other providers.
The only way to get rid of it is to flash the phone with a neutral firmware.
And for this you need expensive equipment to make it with low risk. Otherwise the phone will be screwed forever and no warranty will cover it.
