Actually, I truly do think that you can transfer data such as images onto your phone. It is possible, since my friend has done it. I have yet to ask him, since I cannot contact him right now (he is currently offline). But he lent me the cable and he never really explained it to me. Although, I looked through his phone and saw images that can be easily found around the internet, especially animated images.
Perhaps if he gets to me in time, I'll remember to visit this site again and post how I got about on transfering images. I tend to forum hop, neglecting past forms and I end up almost never coming back.
My sincere apologies for bringing back such an old topic.

I bought a data cable for my Samsung E700 and it all works OK but can anyone tell me how I can edit my pictures. And is there any way of viewing your pictures on your phone else where?
I dont seem to be able to copy and paste them into 'my pictures' on the PC and this is the reason why I wanted it in the first place (to store pictures on the PC instead)
Any advise will be helpful!! xx

If you are running Easy Studio PIMS and File Manager for your E700, then you should have all you need to download and upload pictures. Although I haven't used Easy Studio, it should be pretty similar to the Easy GPRS that I am using for my E316 and it even have a editor to help to modify the pictures if you like. Of course, you can use more powerful S/W like photo shop or paint shop pro if you have them.

Which phone are you using, E700? Make sure you got the compatible cable. A noise when connecting the cable to the phone is not a guarantee that the cable is compatible. If you are using a usb cable, you have to properly install the correct driver. If the cable is right, driver is installed properly and you have the latest PIMS & File Manager from Samsung and setup properly for the right Port, then it should work. Unless your computer has other problem like virus or missing system files.

I am not aware of any change that is required on the phone side.
You mentioned COM4. Is that what you found in Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT) with a description like ... usb-to-serial ... (COM4)? If yes, have you change the Ports setting in PIMS & File Manger in File - setup? You should change that to COM4. After that, close PIMS and restart it. If everything is right, offline should change to your phone's model number.

Chameleon,
What cable did you get? Are you sure it is a compatible one?
