I have taken apart my whole T720... except the hinge where the two casings meet... I can't figure out a safe way to get this off. I am trying to replace my LCD on the phone b/c I smashed it one day in the corner of my desk and it has a HUGE crack in it. Any, can someone tell me how to get the two peices apart, or just a way to get the ribbon cable through to replace the LCD.
Thanks for your help!!!!!

theres a place you can detach the ribbon cable from the other side of the phone in between the two chip boards then you can take the two parts out and replace the LCD.

I know this is a month old thread, but I thought Id share some information for anyone else who googles for replacing an lcd and has trouble with that evil hinge. Took me a bit to figure out.
Remove that little piece of clear plastic that is visible from the front face that is next to the hole for the antenna (just push it out). On the inside edge the is a little "Y" shaped pice of plastic that really hard to see as it is almost the same color as the silver case. Take a hooked piece of metal (I used one from a file on a large fingernail clipper) and push this "Y" in. That hinge is spring loaded and a serious pain in the butt. Even after knowing how to do it, it took me 15 minutes just to push hard enough to pop it loose.

hi
Im attempting to install a full housing on my T720 and im stuck on the hinge. Ive got down to the part with the 'Y' shaped piece of plastic on the inside where the status light was. I cant see how it comes apart from here. Can you be more specific on which direction "in" is? Do you mean pushing it into the hinge?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
jason

You have to push it in about 1/8" (2mm).
The clear plastic piece is the window for the blinking status light that can be enabled in the settings.
Once you push that out (push from inside and the plastic piece pops out the front) you will see just a little bit (1/32") of the Y piece on one side. I didn't have a hooked device, so I pushed in on the Y piece and pulled down on the cover ( key board cover not lcd cover) enough to get the Y piece stuck half way open. I used my pen knife as a wedge after that to separate the cover the rest of the way. I ENDED UP WITH LOTS of SCRATCH MARKS around the hinge because of the pen knife. I reccomend the hooked tool to save the cover.

I cracked my LCD screen (the outer screen) for the third time and my insurance won't replace it anymore (for good reason). I will find the above instructions useful in replacing my LCD but I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a replacement screen. Thanks for your help.

You can get them at http://www.eforcity.com or ebay
Some of the kits even come with the torx screw driver for the case, although the right size eyeglass screw driver will also work.
Be careful that you get the right version lcd screen. Do a search on the board. I think version 6.1 is a newer screen.
