Hello,
I am looking in to buying a bluetooth USB adapter for my T630. I have noticed that there are many different brands out there to choose from.
Does anyone have any recommendations of cheap and well working adapter. What is the best alternative?

Hey,
As far as I have understood, dongle is just the name for the adapter.
I am looking in to buying either the
Epox Bluetooth Dongle BT-DG02A (USB)
or
MSI Btoes Bluetooth USB 1.1
adapter 100m
They are both for 100m.

G'day,
Useless Getting a 100m adaptor unless u got a 1.1 device. There are HUNDREDS of BT adapters on the market. but the one ive found is the least annoying (software wise) is the D-Link DBT-120 which can be bought from any good PC store. This Adapter has heaps of features and can create a PAN (personal area network) which can allow you to sync with ur T630 as soon as you come into range of ur PC. So i recomend this adapter even though its more expensive because of the D-Link brand name (means quality stuff though)...lol
Hope this helped,

Thanks for the information. I have seen the D-Link dongle. Do you happen to know what devices that have 1.1 support. Any cell phones or pda? Could be good to have a dongle that can be used in the future when 1.1 devices are common.
The big questiong is of course: Do I really need 100m of BT. Probably not.
How is your BT working through walls? How have you positioned it? Any need to hang it up or would it do good even thought the USB port is on the back of the computer and down on the floor behind the desk?
Thanks,
Magnus

I just got a Belkin USB Bluetooth adapter 100m, its pretty ok i guess, but i think its not using FMAs features fully , like when u walk away from comp it will turn volume down , the range is so long it never detects u as away from comp..XD, i can walk around the house while still sending my files to comp and vice versa ..LOL

Do you happen to know how far you can go away from the BT dongle? What cell phone do you have? I am just wondering if the cell phone is capable of using 100m or if it is just something like 10 m?
Thanks

lonestar,
There are devices coming soon that will be 1.1 compatible. but for now there are none in the mainstream market. I dont think the phone companies will ike it much because with the right BT base station voice and txt is able to be sent thought it to other BT devices in the area. Only once certain script has been sent to the phone to tweak the send route...so very complicated... ANYWAY lol.
To your question. yes i have very strong BT reception from my DBT-120 up to 15m line of site! and about 7m through walls. i have mine on its extention cable. its bluetacked to the wall behind my monitor (so i cant see it but its still got good reception.
I recomend it very highly,
Hope i helped.
