I just got my phone and am trying to upload ring tones to my v220 using a usb cable and pk2. I have used both midi and mp3 formats. I have gotten them uploaded and can play them in my media - sounds, but I can not:
set them as a ringtone - no sound when phone rings
set them as a caller id ring - not showing on the list
I have very little computer knowledge. I have read this forum and am thouroughly confused. The websites/manuals from cingular and motorolla do not include any info on anything for a newbie to use. After a week my head is about to explode...Is there anyone who can help?

Try a master reset on phone.

I have the Motorola V220.
I have loaded some software, but each time I plug in my phone I have to tell the software to add my phone.
Which files should be used?
In what order should they be installed to avoid having to add my phone each time?
?
I have access to:
MobilePhoneTools_2.21b_US
Motorola_MobilePhoneTools_1.23c_EN
P2KTools
PST_6.7_Patch
MIDway_2-1.8
Motorola.Mobile.PhoneTools.v3.11h.Final.Retail
PST_6.7_GENERAL
PST_7.1.1
WHAT IS THE BEST VERSION OF EACH SOFTWARE AND IN WHAT ORDER SHOULD I INSTALL THEM?
Also, I want to use a song clip as a ring tone. Is there a thread already or can someone tell me/teach me how to convert, save, install a ring tone from a MID file and from a MP3 file?
Thanks, kimo

My used software and prefered:
Power MP3 Cutter (shareware)
PST (for drivers only - not required in uploading the ringtones)
P2ktools (for upload)
Advanced WMA Workshop (liscense required)
Windows Media Player (Any Media Player will do)
Steps:
1) Rip selected track
2) Convert from WMA to MP3 with Advanced WMA Workshop
3) Cut 30 seconds with Power MP3 Cutter
4) Save the clip at 96kbps
5) Plug up phone
6) Open up P2ktools
7) Switch to p2k mode
Connect to phone
9) Refresh file list
10) Upload song into the audio file
11) Preview and/or set song as ringtone.
This is just one of many ways to go about doing it, I have found that it is very effective as I did this to 2 V220's today and 1 last week. For any added details let me know, but for your own benefit try this way out, The converter Advanced WMA Workshop is one of many, any will do in this case. Also some media players may even rip the song to mp3 for you so if you get confused just email me and I'll try to help you along.
Ok, now a dilemma strikes...I did the method above and I must have missed a step because I can't seem to get the song to play when the phone is called, any thoughts or tips on the step I may have missed toward the end are helpful and appreciated.
