all,
How does the GAIT plan work? I had a GSM plan which i changed to gait and got a 6340i. my gait features online says gsm/gsm interoperability while my friends' (also gait) says gsm/tdma interop as one of the features. does this mean i have to call and have em change it?
with gait can i be really sure that if cingular signal drops i will be guaranteed a signal by some other service provider on GSM/TDMA/AMPS?
i did notice once that my fone changed to "voicestream" when travelling. is this a gait feature coz i had seen only "cingular" or "cingular extended" on my fone till then.
there have been instances when my fone didnt work "no network" but my friends fone on cingular GSM only did work. how did that happen. is that a fone issue?
i have the nationwide GAIT 400 with rollover plan.
thanks

T-Mobile bought voicestream, though many of their towers still report the name "Voicestream" or "VStream" on your phone. If you have a GAIT nation plan, and are outside Cingular's coverage area, the phone dynamically checks the best roaming agreement Cingular has with the applicable GSM, TDMA, and AMPS roaming providers where the phone is and chooses that provider.
When I had the 6340i, it would either report "Cingular" or "Cingular Extend". I had a Preferred Nation Plan, and Cingular Extend meant I was being billed extra for the calls. In some instances, it would choose a TDMA provider like Dobson (now GSM) in Michigan over the better sounding GSM quality offered by NPI Wirless (now owned by Dobson).
The GSM footprint is so solid now, I don't think Cingular is offering the GAIT phones/plans anymore, but I could be wrong.

Is there anyway to temporarily disable voice mail on my V400? I am going overseas and want to use my phone, but not get a bunch of VM when I turn the phone on. I understand that it cots twice as much for a VM.
Thanks!

Can I use a V80 with Cingular? The phone shares the OS with the V600...
I have two problems, the first is that I get a text message from "_@" instead of the the indicator icon when someone leaves a voicemail, and second, I can't configure the browser to connect to the internet...The WONDERFUL service rep (Carlos Hernandez) that I talked to actually refused to help me, even when I asked him to walk me through V600 settings. If you ever run into him at the company picnic, feel free to acquaint him with the back of your hand...

You can turn off notification for your Vmail. Callers can leave message but a notificaton will not be send to you that you have a message.
Menu, messages, menu bar, voicemail setup, notification, off
Or to disable VM all together:
Go to menu, settings, call forward, voice calls, forward, select off, select done

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------
I recently unlocked a Nokia 6820 from AT&T because I switched to Cingular. I don't know if it's A or B or not. With the old AT&T settings, the GRPS symbol showed up. But when I changed all the software to make it Cingular, no G symbol. I couldn't send SMS with the AT&T but now I can since I change the message center number. I can't log onto AIM, any internet, or even download ringtones from Cingular. Please help by providing any information (settings) for WAP, GPRS, GSM (I know it's WAP). Also, I cannot setup my voicemail. Currently it's under KIC Prepaid but I still should be albe to get all that good stuff. I get call forwarding but I don't have voicemail. Whenver I hold an press 1, it dials but says number is busy. Help Please. Also, they want $36 dollars to change my number to my hometown though I told them during activation but they set it to a close town anyhow. §NullPlease e-mail me at Īremoved by userĪ if you have any helpful information.)Null§ Thanks
Sorry post is so long.

I just opened up a cellular phone store (I am quite excited) and i have regional master agents. I am looking for national master agent for cingular, nextel, verizon, T-mobile, and AT&T, so I can offer my service on-line. I don't have to restricted to only California. I know starting a business is not easy and I can need all the help I can get. I was wondering can any one here help me out? Any info would be greatly apreciated.

If you currently carry a 3595 then you are on GSM and the x427m is a GSM handset. Which basically means that both phones would be picking up signals from the same towers so reception shoud not differ. There are only differences from phone to phone if there is a defect in the phone where it does not get good reception. You should be fine is you switch

Hi,
I've a Motorola v400 with cingular service since april 2004. I need to unlock my phone so that i can use it when i go back home in India with the local service. I've heard that nowadays cingular provide phones that are already unlocked. So my question is if this is true then how to test whether my phone is locked or unlocked without changing the SIM card?
