The only other carrier (besides Nextel) I'm aware of with free incoming minutes is US Cellular (a CDMA provider based in Chicago).
Though not intended this way, if you were expecting incoming minutes from a couple people, you could sign up for a family talk plan that includes unlimited mobile-to-mobile. I'm pretty sure Cingular is the only one that doesn't have the "only if your phone is in our coverage area and the person your calling or being called by is in our service area" clause - Cingular's mobile to mobile are from anywhere to anywhere (in the country that is). You can add lines to your account for $9.99/each/month - depending on how much calling you're planning to do it could be a bargain...
Of course individual plans also include unlimited m2m, but you may need to switch people's providers to cingular if they weren't already with them or ATT.
I just wanted to ask when the hell cingular will do anything with its network? I have friends who are cingular's fans and everywhere we go their cell phones have less bars (2 or less)... I have AT&T Wireless and i have full bars everywhere... so what's the problem with raising a bar? When the cingular's customers will get the same reception as AT&T Wireless' customers do? Moreover, CINGULAR IS BUYING OUT AT&T, NOT the other way!!!

Okay- I had to have my bill adjusted due to a mistake and the account rep at the store printed a "account general info page" on my account. There is 2 fields I have questions about.
What are these ratings and what do they mean?
Credit Class: 3
Treatment code: Z
Just curious as how my account is rated?

Hi-
Please excuse the long message, but I've been dealing with this for a while...
I was wondering if you could tell me what I can do to accelerate the porting of my old digital phone number to my new Cingular gsm phone. I was told I needed to port the number over, even though I want to change right away to a new number that will reflect my recent move across country. I figured getting a new phone would be a good time to get a new number as well.
I ordered the phone two weeks ago by telephone, and the porting still hasn't gone through. I asked the local cingular store sales guy, and he couldn't do it on his computer because they sent me a phone with an east coast SIM even though I'm on the west coast now, apparently because my old number is an east coast area code. He claimed that he could have done it instantaneously on his system if I had a west coast SIM and number, but he was unwilling to just exchange my SIM for a west coast SIM that he could program with a new number, although I'm not sure why.
The telephone customer service folks at Cingular also have not been able to give me a satisfactory answer. They told me to wait for my new phone, currently displaying "inactive SIM," to receive a text message, and then to power cycle it. That was supposed to happen this past weekend, and now it's Wednesday.
What I don't understand is, if the sales rep can do it in the store in seconds if it were a west coast number and SIM, why can't it be done equally quickly on the east coast? It's from ATT to Cingular, so it's not like they have to deal with an external company either.
This east coast/west coast SIM thing makes no sense.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me on how to negotiate this.

Can the new Motorola Razr V3 be unlocked for T-Mobile since it uses a SIM card?
