Hello! Just got the phone yesterday, my first LCD (been using a Motorola v120 for the last two years)!
I wore the battery down entering in all my contacts and fixing settings so I put it on the charger last night. The keypad backlight goes out after the set time, but the LCD doesn't dim. I even turned off the phone completely and it displays this Battery Charging wallpaper and stays lit the whole time. If you close it, you can still see the glow inside that the LCD is still on. Tried the car charger I got with it, same thing. Is this an attribute this phone, or any LG's for that matter?
As soon as you disconnect the charger the LCD will dim with the keypad, but I just think it's odd that it does that. Then again, the book, LG's FAQ, or a search resolved my question on it.
Thanks much to a, most likely, very easy don't-worry-about question!

Hmm...so no one has ever charged their battery? Must be the extended life ones that never need it.

Do you mean the mail LCD screen? Not the one on the outside?? No this is NOT an attribute to the phone and this will delay the charging time necessary. My advice is to contact the place where you bought it to see if it is still under warranty. You have a 15 day return warranty and a one year manufacturers warranty on the phone. If you have any other questions please contact me directly at kizmejsgirl@aol.com
I am an authorized Verizon Wireless agent and would be more than happy to help you.

With my VX7000 I noticed the same thing, but the important part is that the backlight does NOT stay on. The backlight is the part that will drain the battery. The screen staying active doesn't require nearly as much power so charging time may take a few extra minutes, but I like the fact that the screen stays on, makes me remember to check on it occasionally.
