My friend has a AT&T phone that is able to switch between the AT&T and Cingular network. I was wondering why I can't do that with my Cingular phone?

A cingular phone is able to roam on most areas of the AT&T network (anywhere they have a roaming aggrement for) though with the cingular phone this is done automatcly by the phone. its not something that the customer can set manually

This is so frustrating!!! I currently have no signal at home and I have never seen my phone automatically switch over. Is there nothing I can do?

If it's any consolation, whether I switch manually or it switches automatically, when the reception's bad, it's bad on both networks.
