Im going to buy a color cell phone and am considering buying the SE-T230.I have a queries about the phone:
1. Does it support JAVA?
2. What is the actual no. of colors that its screen can display?
3. Can it be used as a GPRS modem?
4. Can it be synchronized with MS Outlook?
5. What are the differences between SE-T230 and SE-T226?

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonT230/R101 UP.Link/5.1.2.1)
The T230 does not support java. It has a 4096 colour screen. And you cannot sync it with outlook.

Hi,
I agree WhizKid..!
The phone doesn't support Java or it cannot be synchronized by Outlook. But we do have substitute softwares other than outlook. You could use Floats Mobile Agent for such usage. You could use a DataCable or Sometimes Irda for Data Transfer.
Java is not compatible. But usually more than softwares anyone would like a little bit of entertainment, isn't it..? so you may install Mophun Games.
Usually from the series P800/P900 phones, they support Outlook synchronizing.
If you would like to know something more about FMA
http://fma.sourceforge.net/
try the link. And especially the software is for free.

Hi,
I hope that i've answered the 4th question. And the answer in brief is No.
But the third one, you could use it for such reason, but you'll be needing to download a driver from the site www.sonyerisson.com.
The games would be a little in number on the default site. But you may find more or i'll help you with few if you could enable your e-mail.

Hi,
I hope that the answer to the 5th question could be, a better firmware upgrade, something like the T610-T616.
And of course i've answered your 3rd question as well. Check your respective destination for it.

Hi,
Really thats not it. The game should be optimized to the according terminal so that it'll support the phone. But Mophun is ment for sonyericsson's so you couldn't mention that it doesn't support T230. And especially the phone doesn't support Java.
And as you've mentioned about the X100, it does support Java games. The phones having a good colour display as well. As the Samsungs have started dominating the phone market globaly it would be a good choice. The phones very stylish and the phones excluding only a Flasher & a camera externaly to become the X600. The screens fine. The tone quality too is ok..! And they support mmf's as ringtones, and amr's(not sure).
The X100 doesn't have a Joystick for easy access as the T230. And the sonyericsson are convenient to customize. Once using Infrared on samsung you are insisted download large files and install them to transfer them. But sony ericssons wouldn't cost you much, you need not install any software for it.

I think the X100 does have a joystick (Navigation Controller actually)
Most of the features of the X100 are better than the T230 except the following:
1. the T230 can be set to have 7 lines of text but X100 has only 4, in addition to 1 service line in both phones.
2. The T230 has dictaphone and the recordings can be used as ringtones which are not available in X100.
3.The T230 supports downloadable Themes which the X100 does not.It only has preset Color Schemes.
4.The T230 supports Chat and Send to Multiple Recipients features in SMS which X100 does not.
5. In the T230 all the contacts can be copied/moved from the SIM to Phone memory and vice versa all at once, which isn't possible in case of X100.I think in X100 each contact has to be copied/moved separately.
6. Pictures can be assigned to phonebook entries in T230 which isn't possible in X100.
7. An extra Camera Attachment is available in T230 (MCA-20 CommuniCam). The X100 doesnt have that option.
Btw, does the T230 have infrared port? The X100 does not.
Also, can the joystick in T230 be used for playing games and does it support 8-way operation, ie if we want to accelerate a car and turn it simultaneously, etc.?Can two keys be pressed simultaneously in a game
to eg jump while running, etc?
Thanx, reply soon as i will buy a phone very soon
