I go to school at niagara u in niagara falls, ny. In the building, I get digital roam to no bars (but a signal). I just tried one of those 4 dollar antenna booster things but to no avail. When I go outside, I get maybe a bar or 2, but that's about it. My friends that have Verizon get perfect signal, whereas I can get nothing.
My phone is cheap since it's a family plan (2500 minutes, I pay 30 a month or so). Anyways, I wanted to ask if there's ANY thing I can do to try and get better reception. Moving to the window doesn't work, neither does the antenna booster. I wanna switch to Verizon, but I get the whole "if you switch, you'll pay for everything yourself, we're not paying" deal from the rents. Bah...they wanna get me a new phone, but samsung (my phone) is the best at reception, and tehy get barely any bars here as well. They want to get a new phone or update it, but it's updated and no phone will work better. Stupid Sprint.....I need something better.

pay the additional $5 for Romaing then you will be "sharing" Verizon's CDMA network.

Part of the receptivity problems cellular customers have are due to the phones themselves. However, that is just part of the issue. Most of it has to do with tower placement. Verizon is the ILEC in the Northeast. It is reasonable that they would build out their network heavily in this area, since bundling of phone products is so big today. However, the suggestion to get the roaming plan is a great one. It will at least get you to the end of the contract if you have one. Then you can determine if switching companies would be right for you. By the way, Sanyo was named the best cell phone for reception in the US. They are Sprint exclusive.

I am having a really hard time with sprint right now because I see all these great phones coming out in other companies and sprint has the same boring phones. I am waiting for the Nokia 7270 to come out but they keep pushing the date back and it's driving me crazy. Does anyone here have any information on this phone like the price, etc. Or does anyone have any information on any other cool looking phones that will coming out for sprint? Thanks

I don't see that you have the nokia 7270 there though. They told me that it was coming out but they were still not sure if in jan. or Feb. Thank you for the info though. I really appreciate it. Now I'm going to check these phones out and see if any of them are worth buying
