This worked for me befor I got the cable...however it costs 25 cents per tone.
Method #1
How to email yourself ringtones and wallpapers:
1) Rename your .mp3 file to .mid and make sure the name is very simple, like "breathe.mid" and not "fabolous - breathe.mid"
If you cant see the file extension, open My documents, go to Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, Uncheck box: Hide Extensions for Known File Types, Click OK.
2) Open up your email program and send a blank email with the mid attachment to yourphone#@vzwpix.com (for ex: 2145551212@vzwpix.com)
Leave the subject line blank as well as the message.
3) Click Send and you should then get it on your phone. Once you open the message on the phone, the ringer will now be in your Tunes/Tones.
The size of the attachment can be up to 300Kb
(Sending wallpapers is the same way, just attach a jpg/gif/bmp/png instead of mid)
Method #2
How to send files to your phone via Verizon's Site (by bossdragon)
Link to Verizon's site to send music clip-----> http://www.vzwpix.com
Now, once your on Verizon's site, go down to where it says Create A Message and click on that.
(No, you don't need to sign in or anything)
On the new page go to where it says To and add your cell phone number starting with your area code.
Example: 6601234567 - do not put any slash marks in the number
After that scroll down towards the bottom of the page and you'll see what looks like a piece of film negative.
On the left hand side, you'll see From PC. Click on it.
A small box will come up and there will be 3 choices in it. Click on Add Text.
Another small box will come up. Click inside that box and type something. Example: 12
Once that is done, click on Add. Your screen may flash, but once that's done,
you'll see the text you typed in the main area of film negative area now.
If that is correct, go back to From PC and once again click on it.
This time click on Add Audio. Another small box will come up.
Once this box is up, click on Browse and search your Hard Drive for the sound clip you want to send to your phone.
Once you found it, double click on it. The path to the song should now be showing in the small box.
If it is, click on Add, and the screen should flash.
If all goes well, on the new screen it should say up top in red:
Upload Success
Uploaded:yoursong.mid
Now that all that is done, all you have left to do is send it to your phone.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Send
In a few seconds you should see your phone accepting the clip.
Ta Da, that's it....your done.
I hope this helps. ENJOY!!!!
P.S. Make sure your sound clip had the .mid extention and not .mp3,
and also make sure the file size is like 300Kb or less, or the site won't send it (there is a size limit).
Also, if you plan to send a lot of audio and/or images to your phone,
I would strongly suggest getting a cable for your particular phone.

One note that I found with the data cables and MP3's... Do not use Bitpim to send them unless you have lots of time, as it will take about 5 and 1/2 days to get there. The bummer deal is that if you start, you have to let it finish or risk messing up everything in the phone. So - while it is very possible, you might want to spend the quarter and just email it to yourself. It's much more reliable and quicker.

wow, you really had that hard of a time? i upload mp3's to my phone using bitpim every other day. and it's fast and easy....whats the RAM in your PC?
p.s. through messing around with photo editors, i have finnaly fonf a nice res. for wallpaper, they say on this site it is 176x220, but when i put it to that size it doesnt fit all the way, i found that 220x220 works great, so now i can make my own wallpaper

220 x 220 doesn't go all the way to the edges on my phone
Btw, I can't believe there are people who keep that "hide extensions" thing turned on in windows explorer... how can you survive without seeing file extensions?!

The data cable sends at a rate of about 8k per second as far as I have counted. So, with a high quality MP3, running about 200k, it would take about 25 seconds compared to about a second with a MIDI. If you do about 10 of these, you are looking at 5 min... I guess that's not that bad... and it's alot cheaper than email or get it now... LOL
And as far as hardware goes, I have a P4 2.8g, 1gb ram, 140gb main hd, 80gb 2nd hd, running usb 2.0 ports - and a laptop running a P4 2.2g, 1gb ram, 40gb hd with usb 1.1 ports.

1.5 G4 17' Powerbook G4 w/ 2 gig of RAM, w/ 80 gig ATA 5,400 hardrive... oh wait it gets better!!... my desktop:
Dual 2.5ghz PowerPC G5 w/ 4 gigs of RAM!!, with a 2x250 Gig 7,200rpm hardrive..

idk, if you can direct to me the post where you ask anything about his hardware? all i see is "whats the RAM in your PC?" i guess i'm the only one that sees this as a direct question that was answered with great detail. Balls yea, I would say most mac owners are ballzy. As far as gaming is concerned.... right ... the only MICROSOFT thing i would ever play is my xbox for games. And even that gives me a hard time. But if that's the only thing holding you back, i respect it. Anways i only made a post just to brag about the new xmas present. haha I apologize if i offended anyone. Happy holidays
