that's cute how you listed all your hardware on your crappy OS/POS: Windows!! hmm just to brag... :
1.5 G4 17' Powerbook G4 w/ 2 gig of RAM, w/ 80 gig ATA 5,400 hardrive... oh wait it gets better!!... my desktop:
Dual 2.5ghz PowerPC G5 w/ 4 gigs of RAM!!, with a 2x250 Gig 7,200rpm hardrive..
My advice people.. get an APPLE, as far as all the ringtone uploading is concerned... if you have any cool songs, please post so that we can get them sent to us!

Those are some nice machines. I have a G4 that I use for recording, but it's not quite the power that you've got in that desktop. If you don't mind me asking, what did it set you back.... I would love to add that to my studio for that memory hungry video editing stuff!

To rename files (windows):
Click once on the file to select it... then press F2 in your keyboard and rename the file. Make sure you can see the file extention (if not change your explorer settings).

But I don't think that renaming files will solve your problems... mdi are like notes to be played and mp3 are like wave forms...

Anyway... you could try www.3gupload.com it's free and you can upload your own file.

I bought a data cable for my VX7000 on ebay, it was only around $10 or so. It even came with drivers. When I plug it in I am able to see my phone as another device (like a CD or floppy drive) but I was hoping I would be able to move picture from from my phone to my PC and I'm not seeing how to do that yet.
Anybody know if I should be able to do that with a data cable? Maybe it's not possible.....

the program you need to able to download mp3's, wav's, or jpegs to your phone is called bitpim here is the site http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bitpim/bitpim-0.7.26-setup.exe?down load you most likely have windows do download the appropriate version. It's a simple program to use, just be patient when uploading entire mp3's. My advise is to clip song to 30-45 secs to maximize number of songs able to upload in limited memory. I got (1icon_cool.gif mp3s on my lg vx7000 and they are CRUNK! So i hope this helps, notice to mac users: virtual pc running XP doesn't not come w/ necessary usb drivers so it's a lost cause to try to run bitpim on virtual pc at least i haven't figured it out! I just use roommate's crappy windows to upload songs. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

i think the better way to put that is "pc's aren't bad b/c you have to get used to them" unfortunately they are part of every day life. I've fixed over a dozen windows computer this semester at UGA and it really is quite frustrating. get a mac, you will get used to them and become part of the cult of mac lovers. incredibly built machines with seriously NO problems ever! haha i'm glad everything worked out for you enjoy.

Fellow Mac addict here LOL I've been in Windows hell for awhile, and I'm finally getting back to a "real" computer icon_wink.gif My question is, do you know if the GSM handset software will work on Mac, or is there another program out there?

Hello,
All of this info is real helpful, but i am having trouble finding a good mp3 editing software to make the clips to send to my phone. Im not trying to pay 300 for soundforge. If anyone knows of a free one that i can download that will get the job done that would be great
