sup everybody.
I have a question about the cingular sim cards that I see on ebay. I lost my work cell phone which was convineintly uninsured. Now on top of phone charges, my boss expects me to pay a $50 fee just to replace the sim card. I saw that on ebay they're selling unactivated sim cards for under $20 and I'm wondering if I could just buy one of those and activate it with an unlocked phone. I have no experience with SIM card technology and I'm trying to research as much as I can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you have a Cingular company owned store nearby? I bet that if you walked in with a replacement phone in hand & give them your sob story, that they may give you a SIM without charging you. otherwise the SIMs are only $25, not $50, if they do charge you for it.

hrrrmmm... ya, you would be better off just visiting a local cingular store... you can usually get a SIM card for under 25 bucks..... 50$ for a new SIM is outragous (unless you are best buy, they like to charge 99$ )
and like the previous person said... if you go into a coporate store... many times they will give ya one..

I bought a Nokia 6340 and i want to get it on prepaid. is there a way i can do this? I have a sim card that i bought on ebay with prepaid minutes on it, and i was hoping i could use it. Also, is there a way i could convert a California number to a Alabama number?

Cingular does not offer prepaid with GAIT service/ coverage. I've heard of people using GSM only plan SIMs in GAIT handsets, so should work same for GSM prepaid. Just understand that phone would only be able to use GSM service, not the combined coverage that GAIT has. Would be best to speak to someone at Cingular's Customer Service/ Technical Support to confirm if GAIT handset can be used on GSM prepaid service.

From what I've read, SIM cards are specific to region. How do I find the applicable serial number of the card that'll work in my region? I'm in the West Palm Beach area of South Florida. Thanks.
