There have been special cables made that are supposed to be able to simply plug into the phone and unlock it. I haven't seen any for Samsung yet, but I have for Nokia and I consider them a waste when, with the right program, you can use a data cable to do that (but also to flash and upload ringtones) so go with the data cable. You will also need Optiflash (check the first post) ad you should be set. G'luck!

Contact your service provider. They have overrides for these codes when you forget them

I am trying to use Cerberos to unlock my Samsung x427m phone. I am using a USB data cable. I cannot seem to get Cerberos to conenct to COM3 which the USB cable is assigned. It seems to need com1. Is there a way aroudn this?

WinIME seems to have the same problem. I can select COM3 fomr the list on the first page, but after I hit the button write IMEI the next screen tries to use COM1 when pressing the RD IMEI button.

Do I need a serial cable instead of USB?

or, will the unlock codes provided in this topic work on a x427m phone?

The codes don't work since they updated the firmware. What you need is the USB to serial drivers listed in this topic. Also, if you let the programs continue through, they will try each COM port, but WinIMEI allows you to select the COM port on the first page.

might have been already asked, but I don't have the time to read the 12 pages.
I would like to get a X450, but it is Vodafone (hungary) locked. I have a T-mobile (hungray)card. can I remote unlock it by a code? if not, a regular data cabel is enough to unlock the phone? I know it's a lames question, and please don't flame me!

codes may work, no promises, but all you need is a basic data cable

My only desire for unlocking my phone is so that I can remove the crap demo games that is provided and they cannot be removed.
I am correct in assumign unlocking the phoen will give me this ability? (to delete the games)
and that unlocking the phoen is the only way to do this?

I'm happy to inform you that you are incorrect. you don't need to unlock fone to remove stock games, picks or sound .

ok,
so i got my usb cable, but there is no option on it to switch from data to d/l...... is that a problem? i tried the cerebros thing, nothing happens to the phone, it doesnt seem like it is communicating with the computer at all....of course cerebros says its unlocked but doesnt do anything....what do i do? also, i have a samsung s307, and there are only options for s300 or s308...which do i pick?

tried the winIMEI... set my usb to COM1 in the device manager, then followed the directions got as far as

1. Make sure phone is plugged into cable, cable is plugged into computer, drivers are installed, and phone is on.
2. Start WinIMEI
3. Make sure U.S.A. (Voicestream), A Line, 1 PC, and the com port you are using are selected from the appropriate drop-down menus.
4. All selection boxes should be unchecked
5. Click Write IMEI in the bottom center
6. From the new screen that appears click RD IMEI Setting

then i got this

TESTMODE on FAIL
SERIAL:COMPORT close
ft_ERRORMANAGE<-optiserrecievebin:timeout on read operation on com1
ft_ERRORMANAGE<-optiserrecievebin:timeout on read operation on com1
ft_ERRORMANAGE<-optiserrecievebin:timeout on read operation on com1
SERIAL: COM1 Open

in the little message box and a giat red box in the right hand corner that says FAIL.

i have no clue what to do and i am so lost..i really need to get this phone unlocked and any help explained is much appreciated!!!!
