Ok, so i received the Samsung OEM cable (PCB093LBE), and successfuly unlocked my X427 phone using WinIMEI. Awsome .
d43, make sure that the cable is switched to D/L instead of Data, and that you have it pluged into the first serial port (COM1).
Good luck to you out there, I finaly did it .

OK i used the IMEI method to unlock my samsung x426. I had it to USA voicestream A pc1 and the com port 2. (remember Im trying to unlock this for use overseas where the cerebros software didnt unlock it enough.)
Now I clicked on Write IME and then the RDI button...it did some things then it gave me a blue box in the upper right that said Pass...i have an old LCD.
Then I clicked on unlock and it gave me this result:
Serial: comport close
Network unlock success
serial com 1 open
So did I do this right?
BTW...it was already unlocked cuz I tested it but Im trying to unlock it for overseas use using the IMEI program and just want to know if this is what I supposed to see when you successfully unlock the phone.

Ok, first of all, USB data cables are no good, i got one, and it doesn't do jack. You need to get a samsung oem cable with the D/L - Data switch, because when you need to unlock, or flash your phone, you need to use the D/L mode.
I got mine from this seller on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5749068039&ssP ageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
This cable is good for my phone (X427) and many other samsung phones. It's part # is: PCB093LBE (note that in the auction they have a wrong picture of the cable, this cable looks a little different, but as long as the part # is correct, it's all good ) and this is the cheapest one i found on ebay, so go for it.
When i unlocked my phone using WinIMEI, and then later again with Cerebros, my phone was messed up. Even though it was now unlocked, when I would call a number, it would just reboot. So I made a backup of my current firmware using Optiflash, and then flashed it with the new X427M Rev 1.2 firmware. Now the phone is unlocked and completely different from the old firmware. This new one is awsome, now I know why all these people were wanting to get it . Good luck, and for those of you who don't know what you're doing, read this whole thread, it contains alot of information.

No I tested it and it doesn't reboot when I place a call. I just want to make sure that I used the IMEI software correctly wth what I posted as to what it gave me.
Im trying to unlock this for overseas use where cerebros didn't unlock the phone enough. It was suggested to use IMEI which I am so before I send it over I want to make sure I unlocked it correctly.

I'm not sure if there's unlocking the phone completely. If it's unlocked, then it's unlocked, that's what I thought, maybe their sim or network isn't compatible. I don't really know.
What you did in WinIMEI seems to be correct. You can also try loading up a new firmware, like the X427M 1.2 (from roswell108's site), which should already be completely unlocked. One thing is that it changes the IMEI to all 0's, so you'll have to change it back to what it was before.
Well that's all I could think of, maybe someone else knows more. After all, i just own my first cellphone for a few days now .
