They will do it, but be prepared to pay them for their time (whether it is worth it or not)

After having spent many days trying to unlock my samung a300 from T-mobile so that i could use my new Tescos sim(Don't Laugh it's bloody good) i finally succeded but in the process managed to lock the phone out and recieved the "Phone Locked Return For Servicing" msg.
I had locked it out by using the *0111*00000000# password command more than 3 times in a row...Doh.
Just about everywhere that i had read on the forums say there are no codes to unlock from this state and the only means of unlocking are to have the phone flashed using a cable and software etc. I was sure there must be another way and decided to try and find it, after 3 days of trying and on the verge of giving up i found one... all be it not a total solution, but it works for me.
1. You will need to have the phone on charge with the sim from a different provider in the phone.
2. Switch the phone on and it will read "Phone Locked Return For Servicing"
3. With the phone still switched on and the charger in place remove the battery and then remove the old sim card.
4. Replace the sim with your chosen network. DO NOT REPLACE BATTERY!
5. Now this is the tricky bit... press the red pwr off button repeatedly until you see (Please wait) blinking in the display after a few seconds the phone will appear to switch off...at this point replace the battery and you will see once again the "Please wait" message blinking in the display at this point the phone reboots reading the new sim and puts you online unlocked.
Now the downsides... which there are two.
1. Is that if you press the power button for too long the phone swithces off and you have to start again but i can do it 9 times out of 10...and
2. You have to repeat this process everytime you switch the phone off... but i never switch mine off and you can change the batteries with the charger in place.
GIVE IT A GO!!!

I'd like to know what kind of phone you have that has a flashing prompt, cuz I feel ripped off now...
Possible Downside 3 & 4:
Most older phones do not support this method because there is no flashing prompt mode.
If this process does what I am pretty sure it is doing, you will have to repeat this process every time you want to change provider SIMs, because it is simply altering the firmware lock to the one of the SIM currently being used. No promise, though.

Hi as i said in my last post it's a Samsung A300...the flashing "please wait"
msg is not really a prompt... it's just rebooting off the new sim and bypasses the "Phone Locked Return For Servicing" nonsence, which is a phone lock not a network or sim lock.

Actually, if the battery is out and the phone is plugged into the charger, won't it read "Charging" anyway? Also, are you saying the phone will read "Please wait" or "flashing."
BTW: Phone locked return for servicing is a phone lock, i agree. It is just like the lock that would occur on computers with a bios password when you entered the wrong password 3 times. The lock you are bypassing, though, is the Network lock by allowing the use of another SIM. This only bypasses the phone lock because the new SIM overrides that setting in memory, even though I have never seen this actually work. I'd still like to know more info before I will add this to the list of working bypasses.

The display shows "Please wait" and it's blinking. i hope thats a little less confusing. And when the batteries out it dosen't show as charging.

I'm 99% certain it's not a network lock as i seem to be fully unlocked from t-mobile's network.
Even before a came across this weird work around for the "Phone locked return for servicing" i had managed to unlock from the network and then screwed up on the passwork code as i hadn't researched it properly...but hey I'm no expert you proberly no better than I but i'm just applying logic.
