So i just got the data cable.. installed the prolific driver..
In hardware profiles, the cable is set to Com port 4 because 1, 2 amd 3 are in use. Is there some way I can change the port in Cerebros? I don't see any menus anywhere..
EDIT: Just read that the comm port doesn't matter?
Ok, well here are the steps I followed:
Open Cerebros
Turn on phone and plug in
Select Q100
Type in Phone's IMEI
Click Unlock, wait until it's 'finished'
Unplug phone and take out battery
Replace battery and turn on phone
(with the SIM in or out??)
With SIM in, still Wrong SIM Card
With SIM out, No SIM (so I put SIM in, still Wrong SIM Card)
I read that I have to set the cable to 'D/L' rather than DATA, but where on earth do I do that??
Someone please help.. I want to be able to use this freakin phone already..

Ugh... tried WinIMEI and it doesn't work either... I select Port 4 and when I click RD IMEISetting I get this:
Serial COMPORT Close
ft_ErrorManage <-OptiSerReceiveBin: Timeout on Read operation on COM1
ft_ErrorManage <-OptiSerReceiveBin: Timeout on Read operation on COM1
ft_ErrorManage <-OptiSerReceiveBin: Timeout on Read operation on COM1
Serial: COM1 Open
So wtf.. both Cerebros and WinIMEI are trying to use COM1 when the cable is selected as COM4... what to do... what to do...
Anybody?
This is the data cable I'm trying to use..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5736271637&ssPageNa me=ADME:B:EOAB:CA:6
And I installed "PL-2303" driver..
EDIT: I just noticed on the cable, at the connector end it says For Sam V200.. does that matter?

That is a different type of cable. They are talking about cables to load ringtones and such. You only really need software when you get a usb cable, because you need drivers. Otherwise, things like cerebros, easygprs, and such ARE the software you use with it.

So are you saying I got the wrong cable? It doesn't work with EasyGPRS either so I don't see why it would be for ringtones and wallpapers but not unlocking, flashing, etc..
But.. it doesn't work so I dunno wtf.

I think he was referring to another message.
I am having the same problem too, and have the same question. Mine works in EasyGPRS though, but won't unlock with Cerebros and fails in WinIMEI. Can anyone help?

MafiaKid, do you have the same one I have? I took the box in the middle apart, and it looks like it's missing some parts.. there's a spot for an on/off switch, a capacitor, and a couple other parts.. I'm guess that maybe this is a generic usb to serial bridge controller so maybe some parts are left out.. at first I was thinking that maybe there should be a switch in there because the OEM ones have the D/L and Data switch... but I dunno.. maybe without those parts its locked in "Data"...
This is really irritating. I read people have successfully unlocked and flashed their phones, but I don't think I've seen one person yet that's been able to get this particular cable to work.

I don't have the same cable, but it looks as though I have the wrong cable, my cable doesn't have any switch. Oh well, seems like I'll have to buy a new cable, unless anyone has any suggestions.

I believe I am having the same trouble as several other people in this thread. I have a usb data cable, it came with the driver to make the usb port act as a com port. I have a x426 that I successfully flashed with the 427m firmware but of course it changed the imei. None of the programs to change the imei back will work. Do I need a new cable (serial, which one?), but I was able to flash the phone with optiflash so shouldn't these other flash programs work as well. I really want to get the number changed back to the correct one, hopefully someone here has it figured out. Thanks
