Hey guys,
I've followed this guide, the guide at VStuff, and another person who tried to walk me through this. All guides sounded exactly the same in their steps, and seemed to work up until one point.
Once I'm in PST 7.1.1, I can do a new KJava, but when I click read from phone, i run into some problems. It starts off ok, and gets past the "Establishing connection with Motorola Phone..." dialog fine. The progress bar gets to 50%, and it says "Suspending phone" The phone does 'seem' to get suspended for a tiny bit, but then it turns itself back on, and after this happens i get an "Interface Error" "Please power cycle phone and repeat operation again". I've done so, and tried this on 3 systems now, all with the same problem, so it seems like it's my phone. It seems like it gets suspended, then it brings itself back up when it's not supposed to.
After that dialog, I get a more detailed error dialog "Last P2K Status" "Message: Unable to suspend phone. Please power-cycle the phone and try again."
So, does anyone have any idea what could wrong here? installation seemed to work like a charm, I just can't get the darn thing to suspend the phone. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks they can help.
Again, I appreciate any and all help in advance!

Lollll you joking right?
Of course you dont have a browse button in JADJen. What you have to do is type in the path of your *.jar file. And click on that big button next to it.
In case you dont know I'm talking about, do this.
Find your *.jar file. Right click on it and go to properties.
Copy the whole thing under the title "Location". Example it might have something like "C:\Documents and Settings\Nukem\Desktop". Paste that in the white space where you suppose can type stuff in the JADGen. and then put a "\" and then the name of the jar file.
Example, you want jad file for nukem.jar and the location that you copied is "C:\Documents and Settings\Nukem\Desktop"
So what you would have in jadgen would be
"C:\Documents and Settings\Nukem\Desktop\nukem.jar"
Wow that was hard
Now try using Linux

I cant really say anything about this straight up. First, a couple of questions.
What phone are you trying on?
What windows are you using? If XP, do you have SP2 installed? SP2 might cause trouble, but I'm not too sure about it.
And another thing. If you trying this when the phone is open, close it, so the color screen goes off and try it.

nukem, I'll format my laptop this weekend, so that I can try your way from the beggining. I'm gettig crazy. I have 3 computers at home, my laptop has SP2, I'll format my laptop and start with Sp1 again. (it's SP2 integrate Window). I've tried with other comp, but it's still not working. This time, I"ll go step by step. Install PST first, then the MPT |
Tell me how it goes.

Phew... First dont connect your phone. Keep it disconnected. Then go to java app loader. When it says insert cable now, then connect it to the computer. And then keep the phone open. Open midway and open the jad file.
And then, click on the send jad button. It's the second button in the toolbar.

I am in fact using SP2... I'm going to try it on a computer today that doesn't have SP2 installed. We'll see how that goes...

well,
I just tried this on a machine without SP2 installed.... Same deal, it's not working for me... My phone is fairly new, could they have done something in it to make this 'fix' no longer work?
Here is exactly what i have done:
1) Installed motorola usb driver from vstuff.co.uk.
2) Reboot
3) Install PST 7.1.1 (Also from vstuff).
4) Reboot
5) Plug phone in to usb, it prompts me again for a driver for the usb modem itself. I point it to use the one installed to the PST directory.
6) Reboot
7) Plug phone in again (no, i'm not booting with the phone plugged in). Run PST 7.1.1, it prompts me to installl 3 more drivers, which of all are found in the PST folder again. They all install, no problems.
Reboot
9) Plug phone in again, and run PST 7.1.1
10) New -> KJava
11) Read Phone
at that point, like i said, it gets to 50%, it seems to suspend the phone, the phone seems to come back on, and it seems to 'time out' while trying to suspend it, and it gives up. Yes, i have also tried doing this with the phone closed (as well as opened), it seems to make absolutely no difference.
Can anyone find any discrepencies in the steps I'm taking to install this?
BTW, I live near Windsor, ON area, right now i'm going to school at U of Guelph... Comp. Sci. Major.
