pandaboyy: You should be able to do a manual update of the USB Modem driver. Just go into Device Manager and find the USB Modem in the list of hardware, and right click it, and click Update Driver. Then choose the option to manually browse to the driver, and browse to the directory where you've installed the newer version of mobile phone tools.
That 'should' work, I haven't tried so myself, but I will be trying it later today when I get back to my main machine so i can see if i can't get apploader enabled :/
nukem3000: like i said, i followed vstuff's guide. I 'had' tried some other guides, but I must have missed yours. I will give yours a try though later today. I'll keep you posted.

I tried this too. It seemed that the driver did update, but when I plugged in the phone it didnt work. It's weard. So that's why I told him the other way. But may be you should give it a try before restoring the system. If it works If not

Any of you have the V690? or have seen someone else putting Java on V690?
AFter installing Mobile Phone Tools (then update it to v2.21b) I got a nastier error message with PST
it said "Error: Cannot read serial ports key from registry!"
I'm going insane. Please let me know if anyone use V690 and able to enable Java on it.

Ok just because of you. I havent done this myself, just see if you can use "Motorola Service Software". Download it from edited.com. It has an option to enable java. But again, I havent done this myself.

Thanks
I've download and install Victor "Motorola Service Software v3.7" The program looks great. But for some reason, I still can't connect to the phone though USB.
The only program that work perfectly for me is "Mobile Phone Tool" I can connect to it and add picture etc... except for Java
The driver of my USB is
Motorola V878-V690
version 1.5.0.0
Driver Date 09/04/2002
and it's not digitally signed
And since my phone is connected, I wonder if there is a way to connect to it and modified the phone program by myself.
I'm getting insane, ready to pay people to do it for me.

If you can connect your fone using Mobile fone tool that mean there is a modem, I mean your fone modem do exit!!!. I have PST 6.7 and this is what i found out. I went to System---> Hardware--->device manger and look in modem you shoud see something like (motorola modem#..) click it then property and check to see what port it was in. Now go to PST under setting look to see which ports it can detect. My case Fone was in come port#5 and PTS only detected up to #3 so I download a patch that allow PST to detect up to port #8. If you modem is #9 then your only choice is to delete some of the device that you are not using and also you fone modem, then hit refresh or reboot then plug your fone in go thru the process this shoud give it a smaller come port #. Idid this so may time with V300, V400, V600 not V690!! but lihe some one have said they are basicly the same. I hope this help, I did not jumping in early cause i have the least knowlege!! and you beeing help by people that are better than i'm, but i do bump into wier stuff so if this is the last resource try it !!.
Good luck

I know about the port. I checked it already. but still not working. I even try to find an update for my cable driver in the PST folder, like nukem said, but I couldn't find anything.
That's the problem, everybody say that the V690 is the same as the V600, but I doubt it. because I went throught a lot of forum's posts, but I haven't seen anyone be able to enable java on the V690. I saw a chinese forum talking a lot about the V690, but unfortunaterly I don't understand chinese... :p
I'm giving up on java game, for now. Exams are comming
