1. What cable do I need and where can I get it from?
serial t28 cable
2. What Software do I need?
multiserver or terminator dongle
3. How can I see the current firmware version?
Power ON your phone and type *>*<<*<* (< means joystick/button left and > means joystick/button right), then go to the software version menu. Examples of software versions are R1A081 or R1L013.
4. Which update should I choose?
depends...
5. Where can I get the update?
If you you mean flash, it will depend on what kind of software/hardware you are going to use. Terminator is using one format, TMS another.
6. How can I do it?
Unlocking and flashing tutorial
