Go to EasyStudio's Setup and change the Com Port to COM 3 or something else depends on what port your usb thing is simulating. If its not working after you've tried all the port try putting the speed on 115200 or higher and if it's still not working get a Serial Data Cable.

Yes, anyone can upload pics and ringtones to E8x0
The only thing you need is the correct combination of FileManager and cable (COM or USB)
There are few reasons of failed PC-to-phone communication:
1. OS (WindXP etc.)
2. version of FileManager
3. cable which doesn't want to connect phone to PC
Why? I dont' know
I have no problems in connecting my E820 to PC via USB-cable.
PS. If you use USB-cable you have to install driver first!!!
If you see in "Device Manager" something like this "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)" under "Ports (COM & LPT) at least you driver is properly installed

Hi Jenny
I had the same probs as you with the usb cable but when I switched to a serial cable all was ok(after I found my com ports disabled in the bios settings) However what I can say is that I can only download pictures from my photo album on the phone and can only upload photos into the image folder! which means you can,t use them for caller id,s etc, also I cannot upload any ringtones, games or screensavers? Good luck with your attempts anyway

Hi Jenny
I got my cable of ebay for £3.99!
Dr,which version of filemanager are you using? I think I have the latest version but the upload icon does not highlight when I choose any file to transfer(apart from pics to my image folder) Also the only destination folders I get when uploading are Images, Sounds and Voices so where do you upload screensavers, wallpaper, games etc too?
cheers Buz_62

Hi Buz!
Im using older version of PIMS & FileManager, i.e. 1.0.0.1 WK1 I've tried newer one but it failed to work correctly At least with my E820.
Which icon do you mean? I go through active "File Manager" icon and both "Melody to phone" and "Image to phone" icons are inactive Then I get a window "File Manager" with "My phone" and three folders are available for browsing: Photos, Images and Sounds.
I upload all my ringtones to "My sounds" folder, animated gifs (can be used as screensavers) and other pics to "Images". But you cannot use any pics from this folder as caller ID - stupid Sams
Regards,
dr.
