I just got my USB cable and moblie phone tools. I got pictures to transfer alright, but I can't seem to get the ringtones to transfer.
When I edit it down to a small enough piece, the little green transfer arrow button is grey-ed out. If I save the selection and then download it to my phone later, it transfers, but on my phone when I try and play it, it says "file has unidentifiable information. Delete?"
Any suggestions?

i know exactly wut you mean. ihave the same problem. i think it's because the phone won't accept any music files if it's not a midi file. i posted this question ..today and someone told me to try an mp3 cutter http://www.cooolsoft.com/ i'm actually trying it now..

If you save that file you can convert it into a Polyphonic ringtone using a mp3 to midi converter. The one I used is a License Needed but good program. It's called intelliScore Polyphonic. If you only want a few mp3's converted just use the trial.

Actually i was wrong it doesn't have to be a midi file to be read by the phone. i didnt know it plays mp3s. the only problem is that you have to cut the song(hence the mp3 cutter) . and you are kind of limited as to how many mp3 songs you can put on ur phone being that the v400 can only hold 5210kb. you should try it. it's sound great

I've installed Mobile Phone Tools, and upgraded to the latest version. It all seems to work except for the Multimedia Studios. When I click on the icon, nothing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I thought maybe Cingular had somehow blocked that function, but I see that other Cingular subscribers are able to upload MP3's, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

No, I'm running Windows 2000.
I just found out that someone at work is using v3.11 on XP and it works ok with the v400. Maybe I should try re-installing the software. Or maybe I have a bad cable!
I'll keep trying...
Thanks again.

i didn't read through the whole thread, but you ought to try and lower the bitrate of the clip also.
64kbps or 96kbps should provide more than enough quality to sound good on the speaker of the vxxx series phones, and be small enough files where you can load a bit more on there.
might look into that.
