I just swithed to Cingular and I am haveing a problem with SMS. I had T-Moble for years and could send and recive SMS internationaly. Now when I send an SMS to my wife in Russia she recives it but when she sends one to me I do not get it. She has tryed to reply to my SMS and tried to send direct but I still do not get them. She has 2 carriers sims and both do not work, ( Bee Line and MegaPhone ) I can recive from all US carriers fine. What can I do????

hrrmmm how is she putting in your number? that is usualy the only reason for this not working...
what you need to do is call customer service and this would probably need to go to Tech support.. as it is probably a provisionig problem....
but no worries.. cingular does support international text messageing ... so it is SUPPOSED to work

Have her try sending to this address yourmobilenumber@mymobile.cingular.com ... this also runs thru the sms service of Cingular and is mainly used for you to txt a computer or receive an sms from a computer

I have exactly the same problem...can't send or receive international SMS (from multiple users in Portugal and Singapore). Have you called CIngular and opened a case on this? I have...perhaps if many of us do then they'll have to address this urgently. Doubt it, but it's worth a try.
Oddly, I can send and receive emails via SMS, just not text messages so the solution provided above would work, but it's just that so many international mobile phones don't support email.
My phone is a Treo 650.

first of all cingular does not support all intl carriers as far as data goes sms/mms
Northwood if you are able to send to your wife and she can recieve it its mostlikly an issue with her carrier
fin if you could post who there service provider is on here i can look into it for you

rather than dance around the issue... the people in portugal or sigapore... are they living there(local service) or visiting there (roaming from the USA)
if they LIVE there... ensure the text address is exactly the same syntax as you would dial it
if they are roaming there some international carriers will not forward text messages to international roamers

Unless this info is out dated, these are the carriers listed that support inter carrier sms in Russia with Cingular.

that info is not out dated... however it wont help him in Singapore or Portugal
