Anyone knows of any Java Application that can allow Nokia phones to beam ringtones or wallpaper using the phone infrared port to other phones?

I think there is no app that can beam wallpaper or ring tones directly to phones. Maybe in the future they do.
Have to do it the old way. Using pc to stored the THING and beam it bac to other phones that supported it

Just to let u guys know that u cant actually send from the phones, only recieve, hence the IrDA RECEPTION!... This allows ur phone to communicate with ur CPU etc..
Sorry to break it to ya guys but its the truth

I think the phone can SEND anything through irDA. For example, this game. Four In Row. U can play this game on a separated phones. BUT... u must have THE "SAME GAME" on both client (phone). So... if u wanna communicate with other phones, you must have the application that communicate among themselves.
Another example is PDA. As long as they are app that can make both of them communicate, they will. Hope that helps....

I thought you could transmit information such as the application data: Portfiolio II + Converter II etc... and send this information to a PC and vice versa ???

I beleive FExplorer will do this.
You can browse the phones 'drives' and send just about anything.

This program is for Symbian OS and it's no Java-Application.
